Considering people whine about every mount ever needing to fly I doubt it would be a grounded mount, but I'm all for more mounts based on classic FF monsters. As for lore based reasons against it, we have tamed Twintanias and rotating Adamantoise, there isn't much room for lore restrictions with mounts at this point.
If this happens, and you need 500 clears from Aurum Vale, would you still do it?
*playing devil's advocate*
I think there's still one restriction. The mount has to have a brain with which to learn tricks, or functions that let it perform as a mount. There's no denying that vehicles are mounts, it's why they are called vehicles. And you can teach an animal a few tricks and expect it to remember, like say a pony to tolerate the weight of a person on their back and to heed commands. But a plant has no capacity for learning, and doesn't respond to commands. It just... does what it does, and morbols just bash anything that moves and tries to eat it.
But but, it knows how to eat players, and spew bad breath everywhere!
we tricked fat choco and a turtle to fly , im fairly sure we can use anything as mount (that sounds bad i know lol) ....hell 3.3 mount is a flower

A flower that floats naturally, and is propelled by the power of your kicking legs (or in that case the power of a lalafell's bowels as he sharts in fear of his life).
OMG do we know when that flower is coming out?
I have always wanted a tentacle monster to ride into battle.
Tentacle mount. yesplz.
