Why not nerf relic 80 material grind too?

This is what I did. I don't need to hurry since I got my 230 already via lore. Plus relic don't have materia slot.

It doesn't need materia slots as it already has two maxed secondary stats.

Don't need materia slots if the devs can use scrolls again like with Novus (this time with materia I - V)

And the devs can always bring back the alexandrite scrolls (this time with materia I - V) without giving the Anima materia slots

Perish the thought. Alexandrite was my least favorite step back before maps gave 3 or 5 or whatever it was. >.<

At least it need other secondary stat like SCH's relic with SS/Det. If it goes with alexandrite then I don't mind either.

I feel this is what it ultimately boils down to as well. Despite there existing cheaper and less time-consuming alternatives, nerfs still get requested for the relic. *Sigh*

I've been slowly gathering my 80 materials through beast tribe quests and the poetics they give since about February and I'm finally almost done. If they nerf it now...

If they never nerf the relic grind, only the people who played when it was released will ever get a completed one when its still usefull, everyone that starts one a few months later will never catch up.

You talk about alternatives, plural. The only alternatives I see are :
- primal weapons : not everybody has the skill to complete ex primals, a lot of our FC are still butting our heads against sephirot ex. we are not even considering farming for the weapon.
- midas weapons : thats even more difficult and only for the very few
- crafted weapons : not really viable because of low ilvl

- tomestone weapons (lore) : thats the only viable alternative for a lot of people to relic weapons
