FC sold by newly appointed leader - (need advice)

I am a high ranking member of my FC who has provided all the furnishings, airships, and paid a good fraction for our housing. Our main FC leader is currently on active duty. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to appoint a new FC leader before being shipped out. FC leadership switches to a member who is more active, and he ends up selling the FC (housing, furnishing, and airships) for 65 mil. New buyer kicks all members out of the FC, then changes the name of the FC. Old FC leader is furious.

What are my options? according to ToS?

Unfortunately, the GMs will tell you that you're SoL. It's completely up to FCs to police themselves, and if your old FC leader freely chose to give ownership (and trust) of the FC to this other guy, that's 100% on the old FC leader, and there's nothing the GMs can do.

I don't think they can even take any action against the guy for selling the FC. If he was just selling the plot of land, he could maybe get banned, since some GMs have interpreted house selling as a scam (since you can't guarantee that the person you are "selling" the property to will be the one to buy the plot when you relinquish it). Unfortunately, for this scenario there isn't anything in the ToS that could even be interpreted as being illegal.

About the only thing you can really do is spread the name of the guy who sold your FC around your server, as well as the name of the guy that bought it, and try to make sure everyone knows to avoid those assholes.

Even though purchasing property and housing is a violation of ToS?

I have not seen that ToS statement before. But this topic has been touched on before, and as Beckett said, it is the responsibility of the FC owner to dictate what happens. In this case his deployment forced the system to reallocate leadership to the person online at the time, which sadly was the person who sold the house but in this situation is was a bad case of who was logged in to receive the prompted. Anyone could have gotten it and he did, as FC leader he chose to sell, nothing else people can do about it, you can report it but there will probably be no recourse.

Sorry about the house, hopefully people will gather together to buy a new one!

It is (or at least some GMs interpret it that way), but technically that didn't happen here. What was sold was the ownership of FC (and full house access and the ability to remove everyone else's access just happened to be included in that). The loophole that GMs are using to punish people selling housing plots, is that it could be considered a scam. What they're actually selling is the fact that they will relinquish the land, but the seller cannot guarantee that the person they're "selling" to will be the one to buy up the land once it becomes available (a third party could come in and buy the property once it's been released).

In this case, your new FC leader transferring ownership of the FC to this other person. There's no room for ambiguity, he's inviting the other person to the FC, then making them leader, and accepting gil before or after the process. Since there's nothing in the ToS directly against this sort of behavior, the GM's hands are tied.

I'd still report it to a GM. You've got nothing to lose. Be sure to include the names of all players involved, and the specific dates and times this occurred if you know them. GL

To be fair, there is no real reason to be upset with the buyer as he may not have known the situation.

He could have just been a rando who jumped on a deal (if the house was large and included everything 65m is quite a deal, if not he kindda got ripped off anyway) and wanted to start fresh, which I wouldn't fault him for. But if you told him after the fact what happened, should he take a 65m hit to restore your fc? No, imo.

I would focus on the seller in my reports unless you know for an absolute fact that the new buyer was knowingly screwing you guys over pre-purchase.

To me, it sounds like the seller knew what he was doing, seeing as he kicked everyone out with out even saying anything. >A>()

The buyer kicked the ppl out not the seller, and since he bought the FC I can understand why. He may not have wanted all the baggage and wanted to start fresh.

It's not uncommon when someone buys an fc to wipe it out and start clean.

I was saying they shouldn't fault the buyer unless they know 100% for sure that he knew he what had happened to the previous ownership. He very well could have just seen a deal and took it with no knowledge of what happened.

I am the buyer of the house. I have been searching to buy a house for almost 2 weeks now. The leader of this FC contacted me asking how much I would pay for the Free Company with House. I gave him my offer and he said he will get back to me later in the day. I continued searching and he contacted me that night asking if I was still interested. Before I went through with the purchase he offered to cut some gil off if he can stay in the fc for gardening purposes to make gil. I told him I would like to start fresh as I am looking to promote the FC for raiding etc, I am willing to pay my initial offer to assure I can start the free company from scratch. He agreed to my offer He proceeded to tell me he was just cleaning up the FC before he invited me. I was in no way shape or form trying to cause drama between a free company, I was just one of the many people looking to get some housing. I'm sorry things worked out like this, but I had no reason to beleive he wasn't the leader.
