How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
True. Though we'd still be able to do that through materia (if necessary) if stats were auto-allocated.
I... have to say that this is actually an argument against stat allocation. If they had stats auto-allocated, they could adjust the MND/INT balance depending on which job you had active. They wouldn't have to be class-based, but could be baked into the "bonus" to stats you get from the job stone.
(Speaking of which, I wonder how they solved that with the new jobs... Did they assign those three jobs a "dummy class" that's never applicable, but still manages to keep track of point allocation?)
My argument was more "since stat allocation does exist, there are still things you can use it for" since the person I replied to said it didn't matter anymore. It's generally an unnecessary system and how they handled SMN/SCH was a bit of a mess for anyone who wanted to play both (especially when Hymns weren't cheap). With how linear stat progression is the materia system is largely a waste as well. Both the stat allocation system and materia are simply an illusion of choice in the most fundamental sense, they could easily remove them and just give everyone base generic stats that did +HP, +damage, and +healing. It'd change basically nothing.
Anyway, that's another topic entirely. Basically they could do away with the system, sure, but while it's around it still has uses. Still does something, even if it's not that big of a deal.
I suspect Str and Dex influence on parry was changed due to a misunderstanding of why tanks were stacking Str over Vit. They might have thought that players believed that the mitigation benefits from extra strength were greater than the survivablity benefits granted by extra hp.Old good 2.0 had secondary stat based on primary stat like DEX affecting parry rate, STR affecting parry strength.
They nerfed it, however i still don't understand why.
Now secondary stats are based on current class, gear and melds.
EDIT: evasion is constant value now iirc.
Well if yer DDK, INT could still affect dark spells, or MND for paladin healing?
No, they both scale off of attack power, unless you're talking about lolcure on PLD
STR/DEX effects on parry was removed as 3.0 hit I believe. And the "STR > VIT" meta was mostly because tanks knew they didn't have to have huge HP pool and could get away with even full STR setup.Doubt it. I suspect the changes to remove the Str/Dex effects on Parry and Block Strength/Rate were more an early (and misguided) attempt to kill the "Str over Vit" meta-game. A member of the design team may have erroneously though that tanks were going Str for the mitigation benefits rather than the damage benefits.
