    Crafting questions please help

I only want to level 1 Crafting class to begin with, my goal is to make gil on the AH.

    1) Which single crafting job would you recommend?

    2) Do you know of any up to date guides to level it as fast and efficiently as possible?

    3) Can you even manage with just 1 crafting class or am I stuck having to level them all to even reach 60 with 1?

I have a level 50 miner but I think for the most part I will buy mats off the AH depending on how much they cost, I have 1.6 million currently

    Thanks in advance

Levelling them all to at least 50 is going to be recommended if you want to make big gil. Cross class skills are important.
If you have a miner, then if you wish to focus on one class, goldsmtih, armour, or blacksmith may be ideal.

To answer your questions as best I can

    1) Either CUL or ALC. These two make consumables which is great if you are looking just for quick and easy sales on the marked board.

    2) I use FFXIVGuild for leveling guides and this guide for everything post 50

    3) Honestly, even with specialist you will want to level every class to at least 15 for the basic cross class skills. This is pretty easy to achieve and not too time consuming. The best cross-class skills are the lvl50 ones though and you will need these for high level crafting.

Buying mats is fine I guess, it's just not as cost effective. But both ALC and CUL need a lot of random things so be prepared to have a full retainer

    1) No one single crafter is going to net you large profits since without cross skills, you won't be able to make the real expensive stuff.

    3) See above.

Trust me, you want all classes leveled as much as you can manage for those cross skills. With Cul's Steady Hand 2, LTW for Waste not, and weaver for Careful Synth 2. I had to talk a few of my FC into leveling and now they can't believe how they ever managed without.

CRP Byregots Blessing. ALC Comfort Zone. Those two are more important than Waste Not IMO but

Consumables are always in demand so ALC and CUL are good choices. Depending on your server one may be more favorable than the other.

    2) I don't know any guide since I didn't follow any myself, sorry. Start with getting everything to 15 (you can buy the mats from npcs, just craft every single item in your log once). Do your GC turn-ins every day, turning in HQ items only. I also did a mix of Ixal quests and courier leves to get everything to 50. I had friends craft me leve items at first but as I got more classes up (and consequently had more crossclass skills available to me) I began crafting the items myself. 50 to 60 I did a mix of leves and collectables. Don't forget there are challenge logs as well for crafting. To minimize spending you can try to gather materials yourself but that also requires leveling up all your gatherer classes.

    3) It's technically possible to get a single crafting class to 60 without touching the other ones... by leveling solely from leves and GC turn-ins, buying the items required from other players.

You really can't get very far in the market with only a single crafting class leveled, sorry OP.

I remember how much of a pain leveling my first few classes were.

The more you level the easier it gets

I just got all my crafters to 50. Now I'm breathing deep and preparing for the doubtless painful journey to 60. For the glory of glamour and furniture!

Yes! Now if only I had a house...

Right now most of mine are in the 55-59 range. It is somewhat painful, but those starred GC turn ins are a godsend.
