Stop being so hostile in the game

1) Was in a Dungeon with 3 French guys. They refused to speak English. I have only German and English activated in my language preferences. The healer was only dancing during encounters and I died. I asked if he could stop dancing and start healing. What followed was a tirade of insults in french. I understand most french, but it is too rusty to actually talk to people in that language and I couldn't get through to them in English until they kicked me after they where done insulting me.

2) I was making a mistake the first time I was in a trial and died. I got immediately insulted by multiple people from the group. The dungeon was still completed successfully.

It makes FF14 a very hostile place to be and I don't think that reporting is doing anything. I missed the old days where people like that would've been called out by others instead of me getting told that they are right in their doing.
This makes me reluctant to pay for another month or more.

Actually the problem is there is no screenshot of the conversation so we don't actually know what happened.

EDIT: Being french doesn't make them jerks, and I've never seen someone being insulted for dying in a Trial, especially if it was cleared regardless. Some critical info is clearly missing here.

Unfortunately this is not a FF14-thing, but an internet-thing. Some people are either huge trolls, or they forget, that they're talking to other people and lose all manners, when they don't physically have a human being in front of them

And yes, nice french players do actually exist Please don't be so quick to judge all of them over the misbehavior of a few of them.

- It has less to do with them being French and is more about their refusal to communicate or even (apparently) play properly. Pretty sure he only mentioned them being French because the language barrier is relevant to the topic.

- People get insulted for screwing things up all the time regardless of whether or not the content gets cleared in the end. It has never personally happened to me, but I witness it a lot. It's usually just a mild off-hand remark, but I've seen players absolutely fly off the handle over little mistakes too.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure that the whole community being constantly rude towards french speaking people will make them better and more friendly, and not the opposite. Right? There's absolutly no vicious circle here.

@OP: You ran into a group of jerks. It happens, would they be french, german, english or whatever. Report and move on. You don't need to be offended by that to the point where you'd come complain about that particular experience on a new forum thread. If everyone were to do that, SE would need to open a special dedicated subforum.
If you need to vent, there's already a thread to do that.

Sorry you had to enperience that. I dont understand why people are jerks for no reason, but sadly that is the way of the internet. It's a tossup for me when I run a dungeon of either being insulted or loved, because I am a lala and mad a hi macro. While not entirely the same it shares a similar principle.

In seriousness though you just got unlucky.
There will always be times when you run in to people regardless of nationality who will just be hostile no matter what you do, the best way to handle the situation is to simply play your role to the best of your ability and try to get through as quickly as you can and hope for a better party the next time.

Eh, you ran into a few jackasses. Nothing more and nothing less. This has less to do with FFXIV's community and more to do with the anonymity of the internet in general. I've actually found FFXIV's community to be pretty friendly overall but there's always exceptions. You were honestly better off getting kicked from the dungeon with the 3 French guys anyway if the healer was just gonna jump in circles and not heal you. You're a tank so you have instant queues anyway, so they saved you the 30min penalty for leaving. As for the trial, just ignore people like that and try to learn from the death so you don't make the same mistakes next time.
