Do yall think VR support would be worth it in FFXIV? Things like being able to see your avatars arms, weapons, back of chocobo head while riding, etc from 1st person view might be nice if it's possible. UI optimization might be tricky tho.

I don't think the game would be very playable in 1st person due to how much you need to see around your character instead of just in front, and the flashing of spells would be very headache inducing. I can see it being playable in 3rd person, without headtracking enabled. Also, on the VR headsets, text is very hard to read, so chat logs would be kinda difficult.
Questing is like participating in an Old Spice Commercial - Talk to me, talk to him, talk to me, talk to him, Now Talk To Me...Sadly, you are not done, back to him, look there, its that mob I never liked, back to me, back to him...I'm in the Waking Sands.

they could make it just like that , an option you could use to explore and see the game differently
It would be fine for looking around, but I don't think it would work well for any form of combat.

3rd person VR perspective would solve that and possibly give a greater view of combat then a normal monitor
the goal of a VR experience is the immersion, but since the game was not made for support this kind of feature. most of the combat of the game will simply be unplayable. adding a third person VR perspective kill the main purpose of the VR experience. then do FF14 will get a support for occulus rift and HTC, the answer is no and for the god sake don't must try to support it.
The closest we can do right now would be to go into first person, and change your sound point to 100 so it is as if you are hearing things as your character.
Personally, I wouldn't want the dev team to put work into a "VR mode" because honestly I don't think the majority of the playerbase would even use it, and even fewer would use it more than once.
Think about ninja's rotation...all those spinning. Urk, motion sickness.
I remember getting hyped for ffxiv having the VR too. I recall looking it up, they even had a demo for ffxiv on the VR reveals. At the same time, I also recall that they announced that there would be no VR version of ffxiv.
