    Switching jobs?

    Howdy fellow peeps.

Returning from VERY long ago (release time). So far, really enjoying the changes, the game has improved so much! Kudos to the SE team on this one.

Anyway, back to my question. Like classes can be swapped, is it possible to swap jobs? (Providing the requirements are met for each job I wish to swap). If so, is it as simple as changing the class, or is there a massive quest or penalty to undertake?

    Many thanks.

Can change class/job at any time.
Only a penalty if you do it in non-sanctuary areas and the penalty is just waiting for your skills to reset.

That sounds painless enough, thank you.

For jobs, it is actually a two step process. When you equip the relative weapon, you change to its class. You then have to equip the soul stone to change to the job. To bypass that, in main menu>character, you have the option to save gear sets. Saving this set and then equipping it will change it to the job that it is saved under regardless of what is currently set. Assuming the soul stone is in your armory of course

I haven't ever tried, but can you even take the soul stone OUT of your armory?

Yes, you can un-equip it and become say a level 60 conjurer or whatever.

    No, I knew that

I mean can you put the soul stone in your Inventory or put it in your retainer's inventory... just, take it out of the Armory

I don't know. I never tried to do that. My comment was more in lines that you have the soul stone in your armory because you have unlocked the job, but I see how that is easily confused. :P That should be a given, but I've already been surprised by some players who are not aware of that they actually have to quest for their stone. Not the OP, just any happenstance reader that comes along.

That is a good question though, but I think as of now we can acquire a total of 10 soul stones? So there is no need to put them in a retainer with plenty of remaining slots.

you can indeed take the stone out of the armory and place them in your inventory. then in your retainers. (not equipping to them). we have a dedicated stone area where it is just the right amount of space for it. which will increase in 4.0 like they added the new space for the stones with astro, dark and mch. so over all i do not see the point on removing them anyways.

That's a waste of inventory space, when your armory hold soul stones in it's own category. Just set up a job equipment save without stone.
