Current state of Oceanic community on Tonberry

Hello Tonberry

I've heard from multiple sources that this server is the "Oceanic Hub" of the FFXIV Universe. I'm a New Zealand player, currently on Famfrit and have been for the last 2 years.

I used to be in a really large and friendly Free Company that always made me feel welcome and were always there to help and did a lot of FC activities. They've recently all transferred to another server and I've stayed on Famfrit. I told myself if I was ever gonna transfer servers, it would be to Tonberry. Ever since my old FC left me I've been moving from FC to FC trying to find that sense of community that I use to have. It hasn't been going so well :C No-one's online when I am (GMT+12).

I've seriously been considering making the transfer to Tonberry. What's the current state of the server? I can only speak English. Are there still a lot of active Oceanic players? And FC's? I love PvP, and clearing some old 2.0 content.

Let me know if you think it would be worth transferring.

Lottttts of English speakers. Lots of FCs and the Feast is always busy afaik. Also no RMTers so far, although you'll find bots everywhere as usual. Come on over, water's great!

There are lots of English speakers in Tonberry but the data center is Japanese. You'll be doing DF content with Japanese players almost all the time and most of them don't speak or understand English.

Ahhh, the language barrier would be an issue for the Duty Finder stuff. I'm quite social. But I guess if I found a nice, active and friendly Free Company to do most of my content with, it wouldn't be that much of an issue. And the Auto-Translate feature is pretty nifty for communicating the essentials haha

I am seriously considering the transfer. I have a few friends IRL that I've gotten to play with me on Famfrit but they don't play much anymore. And maybe I could convince them to transfer with me coz they're New Zealanders as well.

Great server, Australian and used to be on Gilgamesh, used to be a bit crappy during the middle of 3.1 and the start of 3.2 because of people transferring over looking for easy clears but it's gone good again now, tons of English speaking players and language barrier in DF is a non issue just post よろしくお願いします

Welcome \o/ There are lots of Oceanic players here and they tend to be very active and sociable. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding an FC to your liking. You may find DF a bit boring as it will mostly be Japanese and they tend to say very little besides a greeting at the beginning and a thank you at the end. But otherwise the English-speaking community is very active and you shouldn't have a problem with PF and such.

Be aware that there's a rather diverse mixing pot of cultures here, and some people may be a bit sensitive to certain kinds of humour. You should be fine as long you don't take a joke too far. I only mention this because Oceanic players seem to be fairly thick skinned (can take a joke as well as they can dish it out), but this isn't always well received here.
