Specialist recipes are the best thing to ever happen to crafting and server economies in general. I've also made so many friends through finding other specialists, it's only bad for the anti-social.

I just did my first set of Favors this week, and let me tell you, I hate them.
My miner is nicely geared and at level 60, however my botanist is only level 25. It was just AMAZING to go gather these favor items only to find out I can't even trade them in for mats unless I ALSO turn in botanist items and a crafting scrip.
So, seems its another pointless thing for me, at least until I take the time to grind out Botanist, which I'm really not that interested in.

That's fine that you like it... but the entire point of the specialist system was supposed to be to make crafting MORE accessible and get people into crafting. Do you honestly know anyone who has started crafting because of it? All I know are people that stopped, myself included.
A system that drives people away should be looked at long and hard from a designers perspective.

looking outside for people? sure! Not being able to have your invested time in getting level 60 to help yourself or other people? no.. biggest peeve was i couldn't help friends, people I've met in the game with a craft (for example the relic items) they didn't have time to level or the money to buy or simply hated crafting. hate being restricted to a class. The whole reason I started this game was because of the freedom it gave you to not be restricted. :/
Your gathered items are tradeable, so you can sell some, then buy some from botanists and then exchange them. I'm not telling is it good or bad, just that this possibility exists.I just did my first set of Favors this week, and let me tell you, I hate them.

So the topic is not about turning in collectibles for scripts, but about favors?
The idea was to make self-sufficient crafters not too self-sufficient anymore. That you need to be a specialist to craft specific recipes or to buy it from other specialists. It bring live into the market. That's fine that you like it... but the entire point of the specialist system was supposed to be to make crafting MORE accessible and get people into crafting.
