The OP knew broken french... He refused to speak if because "it's too rusty". "Hey, majority, please make an effort only for me because I don't want to". It has nothing to do with xenophobia... at this stage, it's just common sense.
Don't get me wrong, these people in OP's story were likely just a bunch of jerks, but what you seem to imply sounds like a double standard.

Seriously? I have English and German enabled, 2 languages I am fluent in.
I have french off because I've never used it much after middle school and I am not fluent with it.
So why do they have English on when they don't want to use it?
But it is ok, continue the bashing.

Btw, them being french has nothing to do with it. It was just important information for this one story. It is just that, for me at least, I get a lot of people that fling insults for little reasons.
    And I don't like that.

You refused to speak broken french, even if you knew it. They refused to speak broken english, even if they knew it.
I'm not bashing you. I'm just saying that if you use that excuse, then others should be able to do that as well. Besides, I wasn't answering you, but to Ashkendor which implied that it was xenophobic for a majority of french people not to speak in english for a single person, especially if that person knows french at least bit (and when you say "I understand most french", it's above just knowing it "a bit").

I just want that "everyone should speak english" nonsense to stop when it's absolutly not relevant.
For instance, I just was in a 4 player group with 4 germans. They were speaking german to each other from start to finish. Even if I don't know anything about german at all, I didn't ask them to speak in english just for me. I didn't find that rude and I didn't gave a single shit.
There's no dedicated server per language, so I know that I won't understand some people. And that's fine.

Last thing: no, it doesn't matter if they were french or not. You could've said that they were speaking in their own language without saying which one.
Them being french speaking people was irrelevant. They could've insulted you in russian, it'd have been the same thing. Jerks are jerks.

How many time will you make me repeat myself? Report them and move on. The tools to deal with that are in-game, not in the forums.

    Edit:

Green is obviously me, red the other guys.
I have removed the names because I don't want to name and shame.
Originally, I only made that screenshot for a friend and it went on after this.

"putain comment il est naze" means "god, he's terrible". One of them complained about you not using defensive cooldowns.
The others were saying "chuuuut" to tell his teammate to stop complaining, and that it wasn't a big deal, "c'est pas grave".
Also, if I'm correct, the healer said "c'est ma faute" which is him admiting it was its fault.

This screenshot only shows one thing: you overreacted way too much.

I know exactly what "putain" means... so.
And I am using my defensive cooldowns.
It is still no excuse to stand next me dancing while I die.

No, you don't. In this case it wasn't used as an insult towards you.
You most likely know the literal meaning of this word, but most of the time it's a simple curseword like you'd say "damn" in english.

    1) From what OP said it doesn't look like he queued with F selected so how is it on him? If anything the F players queueing E while having no plans to attempt to communicate in English should be the ones at fault here.

    2) The language is also relevant since you can only officially queue as JEFG which means the option existed for the other players to queue solely with their fluent language if they can't/refuse to use any other.

I do agree that they weren't necessarily rude in what they said though. Seems more like a misunderstanding of grammar.

Except for the part where they were either in the English or German queue.

Don't mark "E" if you don't want to speak English. Simple.

People mark all 4 languages in an effort to improve their chances to queue.

@OP: Chat is not necessary in nonraid zones, and even if you want to chat across cultural/language barrels, you and they choose not to use auto translate, which puts you both partially at fault.

And yes OP, misunderstanding what they were saying and reacting as you did is certainly part of the problem. This entire topic was unnecessary drama.

Yet he ticked only English and German. It wasn't his place to make the effort.
