@OP is this a common occurrence or a one time thing? It's a very specific story, which makes it sound like it has happened once (or is at least uncommon). Sounds like a frustrating experience, but you know most of the experiences aren't like that.
I took the post as saying the OP was racist for mentioning they were French, which is probably how the others took it too, although he wasn't racist in any way.
