Ticking E in your DF options doesn't mean that you will, or even can speak english. It just means that you're fine with having english speaking people in your group. That's all it does. Also, there's no way for anyone in the group to know what you ticked, which is why people don't care about this system and tick whatever just to improve queue times... but I have a feeling that I'm not teaching you anything new, am I? Feel free to make another thread if you want to complain about that, because at this point, it's irrelevant to the topic we're writing in now.
Besides, the OP said to his group "I'm German, I speak french". No matter how you look at it, it makes no sense to then proceed to ask 3 other people to change from french to english if everyone is known to be speaking french.

Whatever the case, all of that thread is pointless. It just shows that the OP said he was understanding french, but he completly misunderstood something in french and my guess is to say that it snowballed from there, the OP thinking he was being insulted, while he wasn't.

Edit: That guy gets it, even if this issue might need a topic for itself:

The suggestion is for DF to notify us of which language(s) is/are common to the group. It wouldn't help if people are simply being rude, but at least it would allow players who want to be polite about it to know what constitutes being polite.
