Stop being so hostile in the game

I dunno, I've played many MMOs, and FFXIV has been one of my worst experiences community wise.

I don't think such strict server restrictions to only allowing cross server communication in performance heavy content helps things. I have personal guesses about other reasons, but I won't mention those here.

but FF community seems to be at the top when it comes to entitlement, and feeling offended about anything. as well as rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, and hostility towards new ideas. I played Tera for a while, and i was ahead of the wave - was among the first to hit lv cap - as a result, there was hardly anyone to do any content with, so i went back to earlier hubs, where there was more people...and holy crap...the chat channel there...
It was like jersey shore, but with sociopath kids who are competing over who can be the biggest douche. I just turned off the chat, and went back to high lv areas, then quit the game shortly after. It was a bit surprising, cause it was P2P at the time.
But basically how it goes: the more players there are, the more bold the douchbags, get - they are still there in small communities, but they would easily be singled out and blocked - while in heavy populations, they become just a little pebble in an avalanche of idiocy.

Aion has the worst community for an MMO that I have personally encountered. I've even had their forum moderators tell me to go kill myself because I suggested improvements to the game's downloader. And this was in the first three months of launch. Trust me, 14's community is far tamer in comparison. Could still use some improvement, though.

Sorry you had to enperience that. I dont understand why people are jerks for no reason, but sadly that is the way of the internet. It's a tossup for me when I run a dungeon of either being insulted or loved, because I am a lala and mad a hi macro. While not entirely the same it shares a similar principle.

Eh, you ran into a few jackasses. Nothing more and nothing less. This has less to do with FFXIV's community and more to do with the anonymity of the internet in general. I've actually found FFXIV's community to be pretty friendly overall but there's always exceptions. You were honestly better off getting kicked from the dungeon with the 3 French guys anyway if the healer was just gonna jump in circles and not heal you. You're a tank so you have instant queues anyway, so they saved you the 30min penalty for leaving. As for the trial, just ignore people like that and try to learn from the death so you don't make the same mistakes next time.

Had a tank not say a word all dungeon. Our healer stopped to inform a newbie boss mechanics as the tank stormed in and tried to solo a boss. He did pretty decent, rotating defense cool downs and recovering health as a war.

Speeding up to last boss, the tank does not pop a single Def cooldown, dies and then does not bother provoking the boss back onto him once raised. He did this three times before saying "I don't know what I'm doing wrong? xD"

Go play WoW for a while and do something wrong there in raids and dungeons - it will turn your experience with the french guys into a honeymoon. Ofc, FFXIV has idiots too, but trust me. It can be worse. Much worse.

First thing they come in insulting the tank for wearing one i90 gearpiece in snow vigil, everything else was 110 and above, then the healer which was one of these two decided not to heal him while throwing insults at him, because they knew he couldn't understand them. Next they kicked him.

What they didn't know is that i'm fluent in German, so I reported them, and while we waited for a replacement tank, a GM came in and they got a little timeout. Problem solved

Snow Vigil? You mean Snowcloak? Or Stone Vigil Hard Mode? Either way the minimum iLv for both of those dungeons are very low and even if he had a few i90 pieces he still would have been fine.
