It's really a tricky thing to handle, especially in regards to PvP content. The most important thing is to be the interviewer (OP) to be impartial to who he picks (it shouldn't be anyone he's familiar beyond conversation), and it's generally best to keep it 1:1. The moment you have associated people or group talk, it can easily turn to an entire session of circle jerk or ego boosting (intentional or not, esp retrospect it's really not a good viewing experience for either side).

Non-open ended questions with straight responses imo would be the ideal way to get the message across with promotion feast gameplay. It can get view points across and allows them to show passion for that content. Even text interview is good for keeping things (mostly) objective.

Right here for example. It's one thing to just read or engage with them on the numerous discussions, but it doesn't really get the entire point across. Everyone has a different perspective on a game and that's the whole point of an interview to begin with. Whether or not it's relevant is on the interviewer to keep it on track and objective, and the interviewee to get their intentions across (which is mostly on them, whether or not they want to speak about their perspective, among other things)
