    SCH Pet Target Lock?

I've been more seriously working on my SCH recently and I've seen some posts on the forum about a pet lock wherein you can have your pet focus heal one target. I play PS4 and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to do that?
I've tried before and can never seem to get it to work.

You don't need to have your pet focusing embrace on 1 target alone believe I tried. It's not worth it. I find that having your pet following you around during a fight is a loss in heals, because it's trying to keep up with you and heal at the same time. It's alot easier to place your pet somewhere near the tank, so it's not moving so much which in turn doesn't inturepped their embrace casting. Plus if you need to heal more then 1 person just active whispering dawn, or do a little bit of healing on your part.

I always heal on my part, the only time I've ever relied on solo pet heal is when level synced and I see my pet can handle it for the most part. I ask for instances where it would be useful to have it. For example, running a dungeon where you're tank needs constant heals but there's a new/horrible DPS that just keeps getting pummeled by aoes and the like.

Thanks for the advice to place more though, I guess I haven't been doing enough of that.

I literally wrote a guide on faeries (url is in my signature). Pet auto heals people under 80% within 21y, so the only part where you need to do anything is to make your pet heal above 80% or outside 21y.

My conclusion was the optimal setup was to keep the tank as your main target, use a macro to spam Embrace, and put attacks on macros so that you don't have to change targets (if you have the enemy targeted while spamming Embrace, Eos heals herself).

Thanks for this, you building that guide is especially useful to me as a PS4 user. Haven't read it all but should do wonders for me once I am able to delve into it a little deeper.

I actually found an alternate route that I'm pretty happy with. It's a macro that takes advantage of the standard Party List sort (Yourself>Tanks>Heals>DPS) to focus heal the main tank, and I make a separate macro for the OT so I can switch easily:

    /echo Embrace Macro Start <se.2><se.2><se.2><se.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2><wait.4>
    /pac "Embrace" <2><wait.4>
    /pac "Embrace" <2><wait.4>
    /pac "Embrace" <2>
    /echo Embrace Macro End <se.6><se.6><se.6><se.6>

You can have fewer or more lines depending on what you're comfortable with, but since this is a sustained macro keep in mind that using another macro will cancel it. I added indicators at the beginning and end as a reminder in case it finishes and I want her to continue or I used another macro and need to restart it.

I like this macro a lot because I don't use many other macros outside of Pet abilities (So it's not often that I have to cancel/restart it) and it ensures that no matter who or what I'm targeting, for the next X GCDs she will be healing whoever I designated, regardless of their HP. It's very useful when I'm prepping for a tank buster and I want the tank topped off + shields, or I want to handle AOE heals/shields but need to make sure the tank is getting a steady stream of heals (One place where this shines is P2 of Sephi EX).

Edit: re-read the post more carefully.

It sounds like you have an extra button set up for that in addition to all your stuff for healing the main tank, right? If so, there is a good chance you are a PC player. More power to you. As a console player, I don't have the luxury of using more buttons to do stuff like that. As it is, I've had to come up with a lot of creative ways to reduce the number of buttons I need.

I had actually been working on a pretty extensive update of the guide after Heavensward came out, but I lost motivation to finish it. Your post has given me the motivation I needed to go back and finish it today. A lot of the new things I added should be especially helpful to you as a PS4 player. When you get a chance, have a look at the updated version.

As a fellow SCH who has played on console for 2 years, I've learnt to switch between hotbars 1 and 2 (r1 + o) and use the additional bar for 3 (L2 + R2 etc), I use Hotbar 1 for offencive spells/selenes buffs, 2 for healing/Eos, whenever I press cleric it's muscle memory for me to switch between the two. all of my pet commands are on the 3rd bar with room to spare. I'm excited for the Extended Hotbar to further experiment with actions should we get more in the expansion, I'd basically manage them the same way I do PvP skills now.
