Relics?

So made it to level 50 and finishing the quest line.
Someone said a person can work on creating a relic weapon.
Question, I assume that working on a pre-heavensword relic is at this point just for the fun of doing it. If so and I perfer to work on what will get me the better weapon should I just start to level to 60 and work on a new relic or other line from there?

The 2.x relic is at this point just for fun and for glamour. Trying to do the old relic for the ability to skip a step of the HW relic would actually take way longer than the single step you skip in the new relic. However I do recommend finishing the very first quest for at least one weapon (the quest that gets you the base relic, the i80 one) just to get access to the Binding Coil of Bahamut raid (if that requirement still exists).

i think the very first relic quest (the i80) had a little lore information in it. it's basically a lvl 50 job-quest. so if you are interested in such things... you will also get a title for each weapon wich refers to your job and a title if you finished the whole thing (the i135 zeta-zodiak weapon).

Entirely for lore/glamour purposes. Sure you can get a better weapon than the purchaseable ilvl 115 weapons that way... but you can also use augmented Ironworks stuff via poetics tomestones for that.

The one thing I will say though, is to make sure you upgrade your gear in some fashion rather than sticking with the gear you had when you hit 50. Although the quest level requirements won't go up as you do the MSQ until you hit Heavensward, the assumed item level it's balanced around will go up, and you'll be expected to be item level 115 at least, although getting item level 130 gear will keep you good until level 54.

Yeah youre better off progressing through Heavensward and coming back to the level 50 relic later. All of the level 50 Animus-Zeta relics are great for glamour

The requirement was actually beating Titan HM. Not sure if it still exists but that was it.

Well Zeta for sure was very nice weapon, so yes pretty much just for glam since hw introduced an entire new Relic.
If you still wish to do it say when bored or what not, go for it. It was nerfed a heck of alot so much easier to obtain now, though still long starting from Zenith up to Zeta.
I do not recall exact order but think it was Zenith>Atma>Novus>Nexus> something else?> Zeta

The Anima weapon (latest Relic) is also for most classes atm just Glamour, just so you know but good to stay ahead.
