A mmo is a grind it is what the genre is. WoW is a grind, Aion is a grind, XI is a grind, Rift is a grind, XIV is a grind... welcome to the mmo genre.

Video games are a grind....in every genre....thing is making it have enough action and flare to take our mind off of it and not shove it in your face.
That may be true, but some MMOs disguise grind better than others. The trick is to get players to actually enjoy the grind. For instance, questing may be a grind, but if those quests gives me fun things to do like bomb a city from a hot air balloon, or mark targets for a bombardier or something similar, the grind becomes more engaging and less obvious. Questing is also a good way to unfold the story of the world. In FFXIV, the grind is there slapping you in the face with nearly everything you do.
sad but true
some grinds are just hidden as stuff that tricks people into thinking its not grindy
but lets face it, no matter how in depth some quests are people DO NOT read the text that goes with any of them in any game, players dont care enough, they really just want to skip ahead and progress to use said quests to level or achieve whatever it was they were doing the quest to do
yes there are a few people who do them for actual reasons of wanting to read/watch/.whatever them, but that number of players is so small its almost non existant
grinding is what MMOs are, you do the main story quests in most MMOs in order to see the story of the game and such, but everything else is just a means to an end after that
if anyone can tell me a game that doesnt make you grind, and actualy explain how it isnt a grind, id be surprised, cuz lets face it, ALL mmos are grinds
as for the topic, crafting has to be time consuming to advance or else it wouldnt be worth doing
people want instant gratification, and unfortunately you wont get it in grinding here, so people will complain
anytime anything isnt super easy and quick, people complain, cuz thats the nature of the beast
