I think runescape is probably the grindiest game i've played, i know, its runescape but come on, it takes on average 30days of playing 10-15 hours a day to max 1 skill to 99. Some skills take 2-3 months (slayer, runecrafting..well not now due to the mini games).

Not sure how long ff14 grind is, and in a way i'm glad it's long, i hate games where the grind is "make one item...ding a level" it's kinda annoying, people should have to work towards being able to make crafted gear, just as long as the devs don't kill the crafting by making crafted gear obsolete, thats all i ask .

That really works? Is there a controller anyone recommends to do this? I've reached my limit on crafting. Last night I made it 1.5 hrs and had to sleep. I will buy 1million flax and just turbo it to completion.

EDIT: Or a similar mechanism to do on a computer keyboard?

Careful with that stick near the beehive.

I really don't know why anyone thinks they are any better than someone just using a turbo controller when all they do is watch fullscreen movies/series without a care of whats going on in the background spamming enter/x. You don't actually need the game to be active, it will pick up a controller regardless.

If you have a programmable keyboard or mouse then you can write a macro for it. If you don't have or want to buy one then you'll have to find a program/bot that allows you to do it. I would just go buy a turbo gamepad off of amazon (I think the official FFXIV gamepad has a tubro function lol), but if you want something that has more than one use, go buy one of the gaming keyboards from Logitech. The only detection/safeguard SE seems to have is a GM messaging you to see if you're at your keyboard. Just be smart about it. Don't craft for absurd amounts of time.

Do they really message you if you craft for too long? I was thinking about using a similar method to do some grinding as the slog seems ridiculous, and staring at my screen for 4 hours while I spam enter is not how I want to spend my gameplay time.

Your solution, or one very similar, seems like a very good one for myself.

Well, with something like a turbo gamepad it's impossible to detect unless the GM suspects you're not at your computer. They literally made it so easy to "bot" crafting with the most recent change that someone with no scripting knowledge can go buy a turbo gamepad and there is absolutely nothing they can do to prevent/detect it besides have GM's check to see if the user is at the keyboard. It is bannable if you're not at your computer and a GM may decide to check on you if you're sitting there crafting for 20 hour stretches, so there is a risk.

Vanguard has the best crafting system evar. Wish devs would look at the concept of it.

Also, games that require you to play another game/do something else while playing. Woohoo!

It's like XI trial of the magians camping NMs, sit there AFK and watch TV/play another game.

Well what are some ideas to improve the crafting system?

    less xp needed to level?
a more "interesting" mini game to play?
Level up through quests instead of xp?
    what?

In this game crafting has actuall classes, so I find it as boring as grinding exp from battles.
They payoff i just as good as having a 50 battle class leveled, I purely enjoy making stuff and helping friends with my crafts, makes me feel important and thats why I love the craft system in FFXIV.

Wouldn't be something if anyone can do it.
