And proving how corrupt Ishgard's nobles can be (an thus why Dark knights are needed in Ishgard)

On-topic, Lore wise of the Jobs I finished, I'd have to say...AST. I enjoyed the tidbits of lore we get of Sharayan and a look at Hydealyn's constellations (and such proof that outside maybe Thavnair that the devs did not just copy-paste Earth's Starmaps for use with the job)

Looks like the pattern is: Lore-loving players should play healers. That lines up, I think.

I find it funny how no one mentions the DRG 30-50 storyline. It does do a good job explaining what a DRG is, how they (think) they came to be, and so on.

They were soooooo wrong about a lot of things, but still. Lore!

Its also really interesting how different you see it if you run through it before and after the Heavenward MSQ...heck, just the little things knowing this storyline adds to the HW MSQ...

For me, I'd say that SMN offers alot of lore since we learn how to kill lesser Ascien and their potential origins as people of this world. We also learn that SMN were feared to the point that they were hunted and killed near the end of the Allagan Empire's reign. We also learn of the Elder Primal Belias.

Scholars also had a lot of info about the Toberry plague and how their SCH worked with MRD formations to amplify efficacy in battle.

NINs we fine out how Doma fell and somewhat how their political structure is like since we saw the Princess and her charges and as well as the would-be relationship between them and NINs. Additionally, NINs were used in the Garlean empire, meaning that they assimilate combat jobs of conquered nations if proven useful

Ironically, I probably learned more about the creation of the Bards in the MNK storyline than the BRDs themselves. Although the BRD quest did confirm that there was a small Moogle colony in the Vanu Vanu part of the Churning Mists, but were killed by a Siren, this explains why there are some Moogle-like structures, at least

AST shed some light in how cutthroat Sharlayans can be in keeping knowledge.

In the later BLM storyline we find out that Gridania has an anti-forbidden magic brigade.

Though my overall favourite would have to be the CNJ to 50 WHM quests. We learn about the Elementals and how their relationship is like to the Twelveswood and it's residence. I especially liked how A Towa Cant appears to help you (how does that even work?) so getting his gear + relic weapon held a deeper meaning than the other weapons to me.

A Towa Cant actually states that it only works because the Mother Crystal is giving him a boon and her champion is the one with his soul crystal. Simply put, Hydaelyn allowed him to return from the Aether momentarily to anoint his successor. This isn't entirely without basis. You could argue that a similar thing happens in the lvl 50 ALC quests.

Now that I think about it I didn't even consider the crafting disciplines for this question. For the crafting disciplines my initial though is that ALC offers the most lore.

GSM has some surprise info about the history of mammets, including the very first ever. LTW is all about Gridania's sustainable hunting practices, but I think Geva would cry if she saw Heavensward's LTW recipes. The rest are very slice-of-life, but that's it's own kind of lore.

And on that note, MIN goes into a lot of detail about Ul'dahan business practices. Shame the 50-60 story wasn't even about mining (not that Hatchling wasn't cute or anything). Felt like a story for a cut "mercenary" class got dumped on Miner.

Well, it tried to do that but it ended up reducing the antagonists to a single predictable trope with very little of the intrigue that Ishgard is renowned for. This is unfortunately common elsewhere - 3.1 brought us another crazed Ishgardian complete with the ridiculous Hildibrand-esque over the top facial expressions - and it seems like the resolution of much of Ishgard's story is going to be tucked away in the Hildibrand quests themselves. I hope I'm wrong about that though.

I don't think so. Ishgard's story is more something that will be dealt with in the Scholisticate quests which aren't connected to Hildibrand save for the fact one character has crossed over from the 2.X Hildibrand quests and he has acted quite serious since he arrives.
