    12, Worship, Clerics

So we have the Twelve...where are all their places of worship?

Might be interesting to have a Cleric (神官) class that have abilities that depends on which of the Twelve you worship and are born with.

Don't even start on what real life religions they base it on.

Most of the 12 are worshiped most centrally in the areas where they are attributed the guardian deity. This is especially true of Nald'thal, guardian deity of Ul'dah, who has shrines both in the city and in Thanalan.

Yes, each of these gods is also related to an existing deity in some fashion, usually a member of the Greek panthon, as FFXIV is based on ancient Greece. I'll avoid that.

Here, I'll stick to answering just your question of where are worshipped. Those without central worship areas may appear later in new areas, or maintain the genreral world-wide audience, as the ones that are left out don't have very specific areas of specialty that are associated with the cities.

    Halone
    - Ishgard; associated with War
    Menphina
    - Keepers of the Moon Miqo'te; moon deity associated with love.
    Thaliak
    - Sharlayan; Associated with Wisdom
Nymeia - No centralized worship; associated with the heavens and fate (Worldwide worship?)
    Llymlean
    - Limsa Lominsa; watcher of the sea.
Oschon - No centralized worship; watcher of mountains/nomads (Worldwide worship?)
Byregot - No centralized worship; the builder (I bet we'll see more of him after the cataclysm)
Rhalgr - Ala Mhigo; associated with destruction; Highlander Hyurs as well.
Azeyma - Seekers of the Sun Miqo'te; Sun deity associated with inquiry
Nald'thal - Ul'dah; associated with transactions and death
Nophica - Gridania; associated with nature and the harvest
Althyk - No central worship; associated with time and change. (Worldwide worship?)

    Edited. Enjoy ^^

    Any questions?

EDIT: A clerical class would be pretty interesting; it would be something to bring into SUMMONER, in my opinion. If our musing about the Primals (Old Gods) and Twelve (New Gods) having a relation even via the Paragons/Archons - perhaps the summoning of the primals with a SMN class is actually borrowing the powers of the gods themselves.

Visiting the places of worship and earning the right (a la FFX) sounds pretty fun.

I actually would like to see more emphasis and impact about the guardian deities, rather than just kind of an interesting little piece of information about our characters.

It would actually be a really nice idea for a new DoM class.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

Before FFXIV went live, there was a lot of coverage and excitement that gave the developers a lot of opportunities to flaunt information. One of such was the FFXIV Prelive Report; a panel held in Tokyo that gave a lot of great information about the game's origins. You can read the whole thing here, but I'll highlight the parts you're looking for.

    * Eorzea contains several independently governed city-states, like those found in ancient Greece.
    * And just like those in Greece, the ones in Eorzea have a long history of war and alliances
    * However, the powerful and aggressive Garlean Empire has begun their slow advance on the city-states, making the current situation in Eorzea similar to the months before the Persian Empire marched on Greece.
