    Does the link system make any sense?

    Forgive me if I'm wrong, because I haven't actually been in many link parties yet, but it seems to make no sense at all to me.

    I know others I have partied with also don't seem to understand exactly what is going on with linking.

    If it does make sense, could someone be so kind as to explain it?

    It seems completely random.

    As far as I've seen, when I'm pulling, if I am alone in the party, or if my party member is not near me, the monster I pull won't call for help, thus I will pull only 1 monster.

    If I have duo party, and my buddy is near me, when I pull, usually the monster calls for help from 1 of ANYTHING that's around it. Say, I pull a Yarzon, and it called a Coblyn =_=;; However, if what I heard is correct, the devs team is looking into this and MAY make it so only same species will link.

    Anyway, when I'm in 4 people party, if I aggro or pull one monster, it will call like 3 friends into help (if there are other mobs around it), because it thinks it's unfair that we 4 were going to band together against it. Yeah it's 4:1! So monster will try to make the force even.

    So basically that's how it works.

    Does it make sense that a doe would try to help poor Uraeus when parties try to kill it? No. But like the current color = class requirement and stats, this system is just a stopgap until they can get the real system in.

    This is a temp fix, it will at some point be the right kind of mob helping the right one and others don't.

    Hopefully we will see mob AI that makes mobs fight each other too about the same time, now that would be cool.
    Hmm.. an maybe that ting someone said that happen in XI where some mobs attack people cos of running an stuff, not just a agro area.

    Link system makes sense - What links together doesn't that's about it. For example if you're overpowering (you + party members) links happen more often than not.

    It does and doesn't; it's a lot less forgiving than most, sure. You pull one thing and you more than likely pull everything. It'd be nice if it only linked surrounding mobs that fulfill the aggro conditions of said mob relative to its perception of the mob originally engaged - but that doesn't seem to be the case. Still, I haven't heard too much of the link system causing massacre en mass, so I'm not going to cry foul just yet. (Though I do hope, as stated above, this is a very rough-around-the-edges beta test.)

    For now, I'm just going to assume that every single species in Eorzea has the tendency to form social pack behaviors that transcend species and food chain hierarchy.

    It's like most have said; the mob will call for help based on PT #. The Devs know the system is flawed with mobs of different species calling for assistance from non species mobs but, it works pretty well. The biggest issue my LS has seen is getting the link aggro and then half the mobs run away. This is not new but annoying and the Devs are going to address it.

    The worst thing happen to me was we pulled a raptor and he called for help from an lvl 86 Eye bat who was hiding around the corner
