Just a simple upgrade system to help improve your character once you're at max level. Nothing too OP is intended. The following are just examples and shouldn't be taken as OP. Its just to get an idea.






just FYI isnt that powerful in terms of potency so if you think about it having a 1500 HoT over 10 seconds isnt that powerful. Although a nice buffer if needed.

Would like an option like this, using points to improve specific spells only as opposed to a blanket buff with materia.

a merit type system like you suggest would be nice.

Is this similar to the Merit system from FFXI? This was well before their current system where you can level to I think 100, or 99? I do know I got in parties just to gain new Merits. I was able to max out stats for my character that way. Not sure if it would work for this MMO.

Turning Energy Drain into an AOE Benediction that you could spam 9 times in a row seems a little overpowered.
You may want to be more modest in your examples.

Merits and later on Job points are just another leveling system. Another place to waste time, both DEV and Player. Also, it is a place for those MIN/MAX group to math out and tell others how to play. No 10/10 in X, GTFO.

New Player: <really high> *flex*
Vetran: You max your merits yet?
New Player: umm

Everybody says that but I've never seen it happen.

Also, we're already grinding for gear so...?? This would actually affect our gameplay and let us costumize it instead of just inflating stats for the saking of keeping us locked out of content and grow our e-peen.

I appreciate the support guys. I dont main too many jobs so thats why I only went with scholar. I am however interested in what everyone thinks other job merits should be.

As someone mentioned earlier its just 100% of the HP I gained which is 50% of the damage. Unbuffed but with Cleric Stance I hit for 1.5k damage which is 700ish HP. Honestly no one is ever going to just hit Energy Drain to heal because it would be inefficient, if anything a good scholar will just place themselfs around people when they hit their Energy Drains.

It would be easier to understand if it was similar to what they did with the pvp system:
