    Jumping?

I've been following a Reddit thread that was posted today about the ability to jump backwards really fast in PVP and I noticed something in the Twitch links (and a youtube video) Posted below in the comments.

There seems to be a new stratagy that involves jumping around. In the twitch streams you can see that group hopping around whenever they seem to get attacked, also in the video below titled asd the player shows off how to do it but I have no idea how its done @_@:

Is there a new strategy that i'm missing? Does jumping help? @_@ ? I tried to replicate the jumping and turning like in the youtube video but I couldn't get it to work, can someone help me out?

    The Thread is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...l_speed_while/

Speed hacking & "face to" automatic macros (hardware macros, not using the FFXIV macro system). Whenever these are mentioned you begin to hear thunderous hooves as the White Knights descend & decry that none of this happens, it's not cheating & it is easy to do using the in game system.

It does happen, it is cheating & you require input devices (eg MMO mouse) with hardware macro abilities. I'm obviously not going to name those who use these systems but many of them are well known but have never suffered any consequences.

So I need a mouse with a macro built in? Darn >_< I thought it was something I could set up in my keybind or something..

    Edit:
Is it actually against the rules to use since its something that come with most Common Gaming Mice? If it is has SE done anything to ban these players? I'm so confused at the situation.

Been using that jumping method since day1 as its old habit from other games, dont need that face target thingy to make it work really. I just bound A and D for strafe so you can run sideways at full speed and do a 90 degree jumps while running if you want to still hit/face the target whos chasing you(its kinda like XIV's version of bunny hopping). Biggest question now is that should i get worried that playstyle i use might be seen as "cheating"? as i said its old habit and i do this even when playing a melee(90/180degree jumping also allows you to parry and block so thats why i use it when playing tank in pvp for example).

PS: That auto-facetarget setting should be disabled in PvP as it makes playing ranged easymode, L2turn manually when melee is running circles around you tbh.

I just set my A and D keys to Strafe left and right in my keybind, it feels a lot better I cant wait to try this out thank you!
I cant seem to get the 90/180 degree jumping to work however, do my movement settings matter? At the moment i'm using Standard Type.

I use standard aswell as it mimics WoW style that im used to, doubt it will work with legacy as it makes your character "spin" on the spot. Turning must be done mid-air while holding a right mouse button down just after jump, it just feels like B-Hopping from CS but its still not exactly same :P

They should disable jumping in PvP altogether as it is not needed at all and just leads to problems like this. Every decent melee player is just spam jumping and cheesing the connection, but I've only seen ONE instance where I believe the guy was actually speed hacking (he was heavied, I was sprinting, he outran me). It's just very stupid.

However, I think that the game doesn't re-ping your position until you land..which is why I believe this monk got hit by this Terminal Velocity to lose the game haha.

If you watch the whole game, notice the Monk moving as I stay on him for most of the game, and then how it is when I'm on top of the Warrior. No crazy snapping a few feet or anything like that. I know Fer Li is a good player, and I don't think he is speed hacking but the jump spam really is stupid.

Macros that involve speeding up button inputs aren't allowed in a strict sense. It's a third party program that provides a gaming advantage, especially compared to PS4 players. Proving it on the other hand, is a problem of it's own. It's very possible for a player using standard controls to jump, rotate their camera 180*, use a skill, and rotate back 180* with the jump physics. Much more so with auto-face (which I actually have disabled for my own reasons after titan EX)

If you're playing with standard, you control where your character is facing by moving the camera with right click held down.

Yes, it is very much against the rules. There's a specific clause in the ToS that says you must not use hardware macros or the abilities of hardware to interfere with how the game works, this hack does just that.

I only PVP to jump! Please don't suggest taking it away. =(
