Please Please Help! can't get back to azys lla

Hey guys, I started the quest Familiar faces where cid has just taken me to Azys Ila by airship. I've started this quest (/lookout at places) and hit a duty, went to bed, got up this morning, returned to check my retainers etc, now i cant get back??

I haven't attuned to the aetherite as i didnt know there was one, i have liturally stepped off the airship and not been any further
friend has tried flying me up there, the gates in the pillars are closed and the guy who teleports you up there in pillars is not visable to me, although he is to others in my fc further down the quest line.
I have looked all over foundation for cid with no luck, cannot find an npc in either sea of clouds (hilltop) or foundation/pillars to take me back up

Help! I can't do anything with my char until I get there (

Try using the Airship Landing in the Pillar if that's help you.

I have tried mate, theres no one there to take me, the cat npc is not there, the gates are closed, there is nothing. I need to get back to ok zundu if that helps, but have nothing there as I liturally stepped off the airship.

the airship landing only has the lower sea of clouds place as an option

I am not sure, but you could have one of your friends or FC mates try to zone out from Azys Lla and see where they end up. I think the entrance out there is somewhere in the Sea of Clouds? Am not able to log in and find out myself, so not sure if this is correct. Sadly, it'll be a long few hours before I can log in.. (darn work..)

Sorry forgot to mention that name xD since I only looked at the map of Azys lla, which shows me that the only way to get there is to take an airship from the Pillar. Wish I have my game with me xD

Try dropping the quest and restarting it?

Familiar Faces is a main scenario quest though, and you can't abandon main scenario quests sadly.

I think the OP is actually confused about where he needs to go - it is not Azys Lla he needs for that quest at all, but the Sea of Clouds - specifically the island chain in the north west where Ok'Zundu is located called 'the Blue Window' (Azys Lla is a completely different zone). When Cid first dropped you off it should have been mentioned that an airship route between there and Ishgard was now established, so there should be an npc at the Airship Dock in the Pillars that will fly you there - as you're were trying to get to the wrong area it's entirely possible the airship route npc is there but you just didn't notice it.

Look for an npc there dressed in Garlond Ironworks attire and if he offers to fly you to the Blue Window, it's the right place.
