Koujiro is correct; only blood poured specifically for that purpose will have any effect. If it's not imbued with the magicks, it's not going to change anyone. The source is a Dengeki Playstation article, one of a few about dungeon design; I did my own translation and it was pretty much the same wording, even.

For me, the real question is how a Diresaur turned up in Turn 13 when Ratatoskr wasn't even dead yet...
Obviously, there's another way... (Or, T13, being within the crystal heart, changed the rules a bit.)

Could be a human that really liked dragons, and begged to become one of them. Or it could have been someone that did a similar thing to what Thordan did (just on a smaller scale), then getting captured by the meracydian dragons and turned into one.
There were eight knights that survived, including Haldrath. The casualties were King Thordan and four of the knights.
