Vanu vanu culture, their females do it too.Why is the female sundrop dance so modest? The male version is very involved, gets the legs moving and everything. The female version barely moves at all, no leg movement, doesn't seem to be any resemblance to the male intensity. Please change the female version to be more intense like the male.
Equality =/= samenessYes, let's blur the genders and do away with all differences. Uniformity for the Win!
Why in hell can't people celebrate the diversity and difference of gender instead of whining about it being unfair that one gender has something the other lacks. What's next? demanding that female players gain a package and male characters gain breasts?
Celebrate the differences, and stick with the race and gender you prefer. The reason you prefer it is because of the differences.
I have no problem with the dance being different. The moves themselves are fine. My issue with it is the way they're executed, it has no authority, it looks more like a schoolgirl trying to play at being tough than an actual tough woman.
Well... most females in the game do look like schoolgirls trying to play tough. It wouldn't change even if they were given male animations.
Anyway. Someone doubted the ferocity and grace of femroes so I had show them wrong. Here's the /sundance in different kinds of clothes so you can see how attire changes the "vibe" of the dance. The first one conveys the most power, the second emphasizes head movement and facial expressions and hides the stiff legs, and the third makes the dance seem cutesy. I must warn you that it's a pretty big gif cause I'm bad at creating videos.

I like the way it looks on my character and I don't think a wide-legged crab crouch would suit her that well. It's based on real life tradition and female characters were given the same animation as female NPCs always had. You can't judge the amount of work that went into it by the scale of the movements alone. Even though the movements are subtle they were still animated frame by frame and looped properly. The dance is fine imo. Some people just like to cry inequality when they don't like the aesthetic of something, as if they represent a greater cause.

They're releasing a new FF game that the lead female cannot do anything but waiting for the men to rescue her. I'm disappointed how SE treated female characters recently. Minfilia cannot fight and need to be rescued as well.
To be fair Alphinaud is useless too. Think of your average 16 year old Football player in your local HighSchool. Guarantee you that kid can bench at least 250 lbs if not more. He can probably throw a decent punch. Now think of Alphinaud. That kid is uuuusssseeeeless. Hell I don't think Urianger fights at all - yet Yda kicks ass. So...it's not a gender thing. It's a character thing.
Also the Bard lady in the opening FFXIV cutscene and the little lalafell Thaumaturge who becomes a white mage are active characters and are clearly implied to be extremely strong. (Video for reference)
