Why are ranged using LB so much now?

It really should be common sense.

There's not a single AoE rotation in the game that outdamages a single target rotation on single targets. An AoE that DPSes as hard as single target attacks would be extremely overpowered.

The best ways to use LBs are to have the melee single target LB a boss, or have a ranged LB multiple targets (such as trash, preferably large trash pulls).

Any other way of using it is inefficient. If the melee isn't LBing or if there isn't a melee, a ranged should always try to hit multiple targets with it. Even blowing it on single target boss isn't optimal.
