Why are ranged using LB so much now?

Well you must be doing something wrong because there aren't always melee in my parties and I use mine whenever I have the opportunity. I use it when appropriate and I'll be the first to agree that it's annoying when a melee just sits on their LB and doesn't use it when I'm sitting back waiting on them. I often lament however just how weak our ranged limit break is especially against a boss.

I don't like to rock the boat and upset a party by using ranged LB3 mostly~ some people get very upset if you use it because "the DRG was going to use it!" etc.

If there's no melee in the party though I'll wait for the SMN or BRD to go since they should have a chance to see theirs as well before I use it. BLM though? Nah.

I only use my LB as a summoner/bard if the melee has sat on LB for the entire dungeon and seems like they have no intent to use it at all for gods know why. At that point, I'm going to use my LB just so the damage doesn't go to waste. Even if the damage is lower on summoner than it'd be from a melee, it's still damage.

What I want to know is why are so many melee never using LB anymore, no matter how long people wait for them to or how many times someone says "LB!!!" It's been like this since Heavensward dropped and it's frustrating as all heck on a non-melee. >>

I like to see other classes LBs so in inconsequential content, I'm happy to see others use it.

As a MNK, I try to just hit my GL refresh, so I can LB and not lose stacks. Typically in those 5-6 seconds to do that, after the bar hits 3, someone else LBs. Again I don't care b/c others have nicer looking LBs.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as the other dudes. It looks nice, so I used it to see the thing. I've been through so many lb3s in raid at this point that using it lost its luster by 3.15 though :P.
I'll only use lbs if melee demonstrate that they don't want to bother using it or it can speed up a boss (anti tower's second and third boss benefit from this)

its ok unless there's a competent melee dps in a content that need a quick damage burst to clear, otherwise let any dps do it... and laugh that ranged dps misses target cuz boss moved (or was moved by the tank) outside the AoE line, wasting a LB

I hate this so much.... I usually lock-on target to prevent this from happening yet that doesn't always stop it.........
I remember once in the Arboretum I went to LB the boss and RIGHT as I hit the button I got hit by the charm, I get turned around and the beam goes flying off into the distance..................................

My FC ran it on day one. After wiping forever on that specific spot I realized SE gave us a reason to use tank LB. I would say it is possible to do it without it at that gear level but you would need a very good group to pull it off. Tank LB makes it /derp

And yes I am not talking about melee sitting on the dang thing all day... "But LB doesn't matter outside savage..." What DR are you doing Alex/Primals in? Those fights LB is often the difference between winning and losing... and yes I have lost A8 after a ranged blew a LB on nothing.


This also doesn't answer why Ranged are not using LBs in 4 mans on trash where it is far more powerful. In there they either let the melee use it on a boss or they use it on a boss. Both ways are not that useful because the damage it does just isn't enough to mater on those fights. A big trash pull though makes ranged LB awesome and can really speed up runs.

I've also failed A8 and have had a ranged/caster LB used and still wipe but you know what? That was day one and no one knew what to do then.

the LB isn't going to save you at that point; DPS is just too low to be honest. LB does like 2 percent on that last boss. It won't save you.

And for primals? Well, I did specify DF and I also said "most primals". PErsonally I wouldn't use the LB in, say, Ravana EX in the DF because too much running and moving for me. Same with Bizzy EX since half the time people wipe anyway.

And...oh wait. I do remember saying that I personally don't use it if we would probably wipe. Ohhhh............

In my defense, the BRD LB before the update was lame... My husband and I do a lot of dungeons together and he was constantly using the LB since his is dmg based, mine was not. Since the update, he's been putting Meteor aside (he's a BLM) and telling me to LB. He likes seeing the animation and I enjoy finally being able to use it. He'll use it from time to time when it's more appropriate, but mostly it's been me.

Lets just say I'm making up all that lost time prior to the LB change SE made...

Thinking about ranged DPS vs a melee. Could it not be more advantageous to have the lower DPS job use the LB while the melee can keep its DPS uptime without animation lock, sometimes.

In non-hardcore situations, it doesn't matter who uses it. Just be glad it's being used because most of the time, it's not. The LB isn't a melee-only button. ANYONE in the group is perfectly valid, and allowed to use it at any point they deem fit.

Because melee dps want it to be an epic finisher, when I just want them to do the maximum amount of damage for the LB.

Those melee dps who wait until the LB is at 5% health and then decide to LB.

If the boss is at 15% and you have full LB, by all means take the shot.
