Chocobo Challenge

I feel like I'm missing something here. What we have is a regular chocobo race where you have to place higher than a specific NPC to win the challenge. But for some reason I am getting my butt kicked in the very first one. I have tried it a dozen times now and I haven't even come close! Is this NPC supercharged? Is there a trick I'm missing?

I thought these would be like the Verminion challenges where they got progressively harder. If that's the case, I don't stand a chance of getting through them all!

If your chocobo is low pedigree and just at r41 doing the first challenge it might be difficult, but a high rank chocobo can breeze through them all easily. Try levelling the chocobo a few times and feeding it a bit. The later challenges might require higher pedigrees, so you need some breeding too.

The named NPCs do seem stronger than the non-named ones, and the challenges do get progressively harder. But since your chocobo is not "level synced" with theirs you have the edge if you just level some more.

I feel like I should be able to do this when it is unlocked. I shouldn't have to level up to be able to complete the first challenge, especially if they get more difficult as you get to the later challenges. If I need to have a stronger chocobo, maybe it shouldn't be available so early?

I completely disagree. A good challenge and something to strive for as a goal is a great motivator.

yeah, i have retired my R300 chocobo with full 4 stars on every stat... it's okay to have a new goal, but i am still pissed because of all the work i already have put into this chocobo... but it was impossible to win the last challenge race with the build i had... even with perfect weather the whole race, i was not getting hit from anything and i have used heavy on the top-chocobo... still -2 seconds...

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you are rdy for it. Being able to do it but always being beaten SHOULD make you strive to improve so you can overcome this challenge. Not complain about it. if it was only unlocked when you can beat it easily, where is the fun or challenge in that? Do you like everything served to you on a silver platter? that's no fun.

That I dunno, I didn't do it with a lower rank chocobo so I can't say if it's too hard or not. Someone in my FC did do it near r41 after a few tries though, just have to be lucky with the items. A hero tonic would probably give a good chance at a win. Also it depends on your chocobo's abilities, some are much better than others.

I had to give up on it for now. My chocobo got to retirement age, so I found her a nice fellow and they're going to give me their first fledgling. Maybe that chocobo will have what it takes to eventually take down the NPC racer who is now my nemesis...

I can pass the first challenge with Pedigree 2 F (grade 1 M + grade 9 F).

i have an R300 chocobo and can't win the last race for R271. tried it for HOURS and even when the rng is on my side i simply can't beat it because i don't use a specific build. had no problems in the R300 races with my build... to get this chocobo is took MONTHS... i am really pissed, yeah...
