Vendor/Weathered Cane issue

Anytime I go to purchase a weathered Cane from the NPC Johannes in Ul'dah, or the Vendor in the Spellcraft Row in Ul'dah or when I went into my retainer's inventory who had a Weathered Cane on his person, the game crashes.

This doesnt happen to me (verified.) it sounds like you have a corrupted file that contains the resources for this.
If you know/can find the file you could delete it and repatch it. But i think it would be easier to just reinstall and patch the game.

another thing to try would be to find someone with this equipped and "check them" and then mouse over and click the staff. This would verify if it was this resource that was corrupted.

if you are computer literate, you could download procmon (process monitor from microsoft.) and have this running when you crash the game with the ffxiv exe in the filters section. this would let you know which corrupt file you needed to delete/patch.

Wow this is so messed up. I hope the GM get back to you after they obtain enough information from you and hope they could help you replace the corrupted file (if that's really the cause) because downloading all the patches again would be a big pain in the eyes.

Cole's idea sounds cool, maybe you can test that to see what happen and then provide the test result to GM as well.

I don't know if its the Weathered Cane item thats crashing me but I am also crashing when talking to this NPC and oddly enough it was when I was going to buy a Weathered Cane. I couldn't tell you which Item in the inventory or if its an item in the inventory at all that is crashing me but I am having this issue.

Just a heads up, are both of you using a custom font (not the default font?) There was a thread related to this where a certain item or a certain equipped item was causing people to crash. Their solution to this was to set their FFXIV font back to the default (instead of using a Windows font).

Found that it's been every conjurer weapon that does this to me, Can't look at them in bazaars or vendors, can't examine CONs etc without the game crashing,
