An Indecisive DRG

Hi guys, Not played my ffxiv for awhile an have came back to lose another few months of my life to the game. Now before I left our GAE BOLG was only at the ATMA stage of maximum upgrade. After hearing a lot of complaining about the fate grinding for the elusive atmas I gave it the "I'll get round to it" and just raided and dungeoned away for tomes of soldiery. Now am back and the upgrade of it has progressed another 4-5 times it seems so far away.

So now I'm left with my outdated Zenith. Looking at the choices of lancers arms out there is it even worthwhile me grinding all this out. Also feels like I'm missing out part of being a DRG not having this closer to my own ilvl.

So to finish off my query is it or will it be worthwhile to get my relic weapon upto scratch.

Not the 2.0 unless for glam. You're better off trudging the xp trail to 60, then working on the new relic/lore weapon and reserving your 2.0 relic to a side activity.

Alright, so Rhongomiant is a whole new weapon. That's saved me a lot time. Yea definitely will have to do it as side quest as it'll bug me. But saves me concentrating solely on that. Annoying though how they haven't let us put materia on the upgrade to give it an edge on a lot of the other lances.

The 2.0 relic does in fact use Materia later on that let people customize the secondary stats, which pretty much made them BiS at certain stages because of it. Most of the current endgame gear also now lets people put in materia (2 for left side, 1 for right side/waist) except the relic, but it A.) Has its current secondaries increased beyond normal to make up for it, and B.) Will have customizable stats on the 3.3 step.

Right forgive my ignorance here. I stopped playing at 2.2 I think it was and so much has changed its unbelievable.

No problem at all, and welcome back by the way! I would suggest, once you can, getting the 120 weapon with Poetics from Mor Dhona, and if you also can get the upgrade item (Carbontwine) to make it 130, which you can do so at North Shroud from the NPC right next to Gerolt. Otherwise just focus on getting to 60 for now if you have Heavensward.

Yea your probs right. I've only got the liberator at ilvl 110 and it seems to be weak for heavensward. At least when I do dungeons and raids again for the poetics it's like new. Just gotta concentrate twice as hard lol.

Eh, you'll be getting 115 stuff before you have to enter a HW dungeon from quests so you will be fine. You don't need anything more then i90 for ARR.

Just to add about this, you'll get lv 50 HQ (i115) stuffs from main quest, but later on there are many side quests that give some HQ lv 52/54/56/58 stuffs. I recommend checking market board for the most expensive pieces, then sell them and buy the ones you can wear. I also suggest skipping a few steps of the gears (I think I went lv 50 -> lv 54 -> lv 58 for my first time) to save money for the lv 60 relic quest (they can cost millions, varying based on which server you're on).
