    Did they change how a gathering node exhausts?

    Before the patch, I remember several instances where my skill tells me "You sense a nearly exhaust........." node. When I get there, the node would last until all my attempts run out. And if I am there with another gatherer, using the same node, the node wouldn't exhaust unless one of us used up the last allowed attempt.

    Now, I notice the node would exhaust regardless of how many attempts I have left.

    Asking this because there was an awkward moment just now, where I - on my way to Quarry - ran into an occupied node and decided to hop off my chocobo and try to get some ores. The other gatherer was digging quite slow, so I paced down my dig as well. We kind of took turns digging one by one. But on my 3rd dig, the node exhausted. I felt so bad I just made the person have to run around looking for the next node again. I felt like a bad party pooper. T.T I said Sorry and s/he said NP : )

    Still... it's awkward and makes me extremely miss the old system of node exhaustion.

    Do you think the exhausting of a node really did change? Or I was just having weird good luck back when I kept being able to gather until my last attempt? And now it's just normal and it has been like this all along?

    If it did change, I like the old system much much more. T.T

    That's right. SE did actually change the gathering system. Now not only the nodes exhaust with many gatherers, it also exhaust faster if you miss your attempt. In the old system, if you had 7 tries, well you could try 7 times not matter how many times you missed; now even when you miss it counts as if "someone" hit the node, which means if a node has 15 gathering attempts, every time you miss it counts as a "hit".

    This really tends to create quite a few "awkward" moments, indeed: I was trying to "find" the sweet spot for jewels in a mining node, then it comes a fellow miqo'te miner, since I was more "looking" rather than trying to hit the spot, I missed quite often...before I know I spent all the node for both of us!! She cracked a little joke: "Looks like someone needs more practice" Oh boy! That was really embarrassing!

    So now with the new gathering system..no more freebies!

    Wow, missing counts as a hit now.... That's also sad.

    And yeah I feel embarrassed for "killing" the spot.
