Which is why he's asking for opinions. I'm sure op is smart enough to gauge our input with a grain of salt, but it's better than going in blind.

If he wants to know, he should experience it first hand himself; different people tend to experience/think different things about the same thing. And I stand by the last thing I said in my original post: the atmosphere/predominant language on any server can change with time. Find friends, play with them, and don't worry too much about your server's other players. Best advice I can give. DF is still crossserver, and soon party finder will be as well.
Faerie is known to be pretty friendly and accepting of new players. We're not the most bleeding edge of hardcore progression but we do alright.
Opinions also have with them an inkling of truth. This is why people rely on reviews to steer them away from the bad and to guide them to the majority ascertained good. Of course, there's also a gray area which is what the op will have to discover for themself.
That being said, he asked for any relevant info which would ultimately lead him to coming to your conclusion, which leaves your advice sound to the point of redundance without the snark.
Adamtoise is the unofficial Lalafell server, so come get your popotoes!
I moved from Balmung to Siren, and have loved the community so far, it's very welcoming, but not suffocating. I'd suggest making an alt and getting a feel around here if you're at all interested. Feel free to hit me up ingame if you decide to^^

I'm pleasantly surprised on the amount of replies and opinions thus far. This was "EXACTLY" what I was looking for. Thank you all very much. I prolly will test a few out prior to transferring (Lexea thought so) but to disagree as well, that would be quite a bit of play time needed to get a feel for a server. This way I have a much narrower list. Much appreciated folks ...![]()
Brynhildr farm: A party style in which a couple of experienced players join with inexperienced players to die repeatedly for 45 minutes, until it is agreed upon to disband. On some occasions, 1 party member will leave after the first wipe and on rare occurrences the party will obtain 1 clear.
I hope this gives you a clear understanding of this server.
Lamia is here!
You know, in case anyone forgot about us
Cause that tends to happen..
Back on topic: Lamia is the second server I've played on and it's worked out well so far. Most here don't really fall into one category or another and are fairly laid back. Seems like there's a niche crowd for just about everything (except PvP maybe). Our population is fairly decent, but not always closed to character creation either.
IMO, it's best to choose based on people you know there or FCs you've personally alted in, after finding some potential matches via server forums or Reddit. Those give you a comfortable starting point regardless of how hardcore, roleplay-oriented, or anything else the server is.
That's how I've settled in after drifting for months. I networked from there to meet more people and even get some regular ranked play going in Feast.
