Please help clarify if this is correct or not

Materia effects active during PvP only.

During PvP, Materia bonuses are also ignored.

Here's a test I tried: My crit rating is 768, synced and inside the feast it's 658.

Then I melded a Savage Aim IV Materia Critical Hit Rate +9 into my PvP Gauntlets.

Melding showed a successful gain of +9 crit rating on the gauntlets.
After melding my crit rating is 768 still which is to be expected so far.

Synced and inside the feast my crit rating is 658 still. No change.



Finally My question and maybe I need to do further testing is pvp materia will only work on pvp gear and inside pvp instances only, no exceptions? No non pvp materia inside to gain extra crit on my enemy. Also outside questing or farming or doing alexander bosses melding crit + 9 into my halone's gauntlets won't do anything.


Basically boiling it down to you can't use pvp gear for pve, and pve gear/materia for pvp? Do I have this all correct?


My brain hurts just trying to figure this out.

PVP materia is literally useless trash everywhere. You cannot use PVP materia in PVP nor in PVE. Why they havent removed it from the game yet idk. Materia in general will not work in any PVP instance (regardless of whether its PVP or PVE materia they will not work in PVP). It will not work in frontlines, feast nor the fold.

It was great for leveling desynths, but outside that, pvp materia or PVE materia in pvp hasn't been utilized since patch 2.4 hit.

It can't be used at all period.

You're not reading anything wrong. Materia effects only work in PvP, and during PvP, materia effects are ignored.

So it doesn't work.

Basically, things used to work differently. Like Morale. And then they revamped everything, but left all the stuff that was still there, without dealing with it.

I can't be the only one who has been fooled by this.



So in the future can the pvp gear please be made WITHOUT materia slots and WITHOUT Morale Rating..... PLEASE!!
