Everyone knows traditional summoner is FFXI summoner. Nevermind that Rydia was a BLM, or that Garnet, Eiko, and Yuna were your healers. It's all about FFXI's version. The job is not allowed to change from game to game.
In FFXI everyone had subjobs... summoner there wasn't a pure summoner either, they could sub with whm or blm. Also FFV had summoners and a job system.

I'd actually say more often than not in XI your summoner was your healer lol. Summoner is allowed to be varied in playstyle from game to game. I find the whole "traditional summoner" notion to be very silly.
Yeah, I mean theres a lot of non-traditional things varied in a few FFs. I think the way SMN is here suits it but I definitely cannot wait for the pet glams.![]()

I had this conversation with friend of mine the other day. Basically, THM gets fire, ice, and lightning spells and CNJ gets earth, wind, and water spells. So make a hybrid class that combines the two so you can use all elemental spells for one class.
There can be no order without chaos. No light without darkness.
Your thinking Redmage I would assume, but lets not start that mess. xD
Wouldn't argue honestly if Summoner got changed to a new class completely to recreate summoner. I kinda expected them to have big cast times to summon for a big hit or maybe even akin to Yuna in Dissidia.

Red Mage, Warlock, whatever they wanted to call it :P I just think it'd be nice to have a class that used all elemental types. Re-doing the summoner class to include more summons (like Shiva and Alexander) would be nice too. That way you could use the elemental summon type best suited for the fight.Your thinking Redmage I would assume, but lets not start that mess. xD
