I also tanked crap on WHM due to its high magic damage resistance, and I doubt you'd ever label WHM as a tank. The truth is the skills given to DRK were the opposite of anything tanky. I was a DRK main too and I tanked with it as well, but no, it wasn't anything close to a tank. The high enmity attached to its spells and skills was meant to make them more tactical. You definitely wouldn't grab a DRK to tank ever, and Ultima/Omega was best tanked by a NIN/DRK because of that same enmity plus ninjutsu's enmity coupled with Yonin. In fact, you didn't tank as a DRK/NIN because of DRK's prowess to tank, but because you had the almighty Utsusemi, which is NIN's. Without that you would've kissed the floor faster than probably any other job. And if you needed something like a relic (I had a Ragnarok myself) to tank, then that's further prove that it was not a tank by any means.

As a side note, you could merit Souleater so the enmity was lowered significantly.
