    Novice network language options

Could we please split up the Novice chat channel by language.

Quite often there is a discussion in a different language. It isnt really usefull if you main language is english to see persons talking in french or german. Or the other way around. Chat can be crowded as it is without useless clutter.

I think splitting it into different languages (especially on European servers) would also increase the amount of mentors that can join, like 100 for English, 100 for French etc.

I can see it being a bit annoying/confusing if you speak multiple languages and have to juggle multiple networks. If it defaults to client language it kind of cuts me off, so I'd hope they'd make multiple channels and let everyone join whichever they want. Then again, perhaps that's unnecessarily complicated from the perspective of the new player joining too? They get an invite then have to figure out which of several channels to join, then manage which they speak into when they have a question...

Personally I don't have, say, French flagged, as I'm not really comfortable holding a conversation in that language. But I don't mind being in a French-speaking channel in case I can help someone with my crummy translation skills.

The one issue I see is English players hijacking other channels because they are mostly empty, like players do in DF, and there really isn't much that can be done to prevent this

Depends on your server. On Shiva the NN is 99% German (actually had an English newbie decide to change server because they wanted one where most of the chat was English >.>) to the point where I've left auto-join off because there's no point me being a mentor if I don't speak the language. Having a separate English channel for us would be great, as I imagine a wall of Deutsch can be intimidating/make you worry you wouldn't be easily understood when you asked a question.

I was really looking forward to being a mentor but effectively can't and it makes me sad =( If there was a way I could easily be found by English-speaking newbs then I could actually be helpful!

If it's that bad for people who don't like seeing multiple languages, why not ask for a global system where players flagged without your language in their profile are automatically filtered out in all chat channels (toggleable in preferences)? I personally love the multilingual elements of the game and peoples' attempts to communicate across the language barrier are delightful.

Just trying to imagine juggling four novice networks plus linkshells, party/alliance chat and FC makes my head hurt already, and since the non-Japanese channels will be empty all of the novices would want to be in that one anyway even if they can't speak the language.
