Agreed - unfortunately the phrase "end game" in an MMO has become something of a term of endearment that we've all been tuned into saying.

It's pretty accurate to use though, even if overused, as it's a reference to that moment or period of time. Endgame in general is just the final struggle of any prior trials and tribulations that may have occurred. Like how it practically always happens, we tend to not express every little bit of detail and rely on the implications. If anyone were to talk about endgame now, it'd be referring to 3.2, and for most of the people that the statement applies to would understand it without actually adding in the "3.2" bit. Any given patch cycle does actually have an end. "The endgame..." instead of "The endgame of 3.2..."
