Protect =/= I'm ready!! >.<

My first time w/ Titan and went with my FC mates so there would be no rush. Our tank is a real life buddy of mine. As a lv35 sch, I only have 3 cs slots, so at the beginning of an instance I like to cast protect and then slot in stoneskin as an additional dmg mitigation tool. 30sec GCD once you do. He's VERY aware of this.

So fight starts and I cast protect, tell everybody "30 seconds please". Before I can finish that, the tank has already rushed in. The dps and I quickly join, but guess what? I'm on GCD and can't do a thing!

Somehow, I get them to sufficient health to survive Titans signature attack, and in the final phase I caught an unfortunate land slide and was eliminated from battle. They still won, but it was a loss for me, and none of them understood why I wanted to do it again.

I skipped the cut scene and rage quit. I may have only been playing for 2 months, but I was looking forward to that fight for over a year. Does anyone understand my feelings with this matter?

You probably shouldn't be so hard on yourself.
Most people do not micromanage cross class skills like that, especially at lower levels. If you want one or the other, drop protect. It may make people feel safe, but is does incredibly small amounts of mitigation at that level.

Also, get used to being dead during a victory. It happens.

This is spot on. I did this the first few times I played SCH in low level roulette and gave up. I have protect in my 3rd CS slot, because at lower levels my fairy heals perfectly fine and I want Clerics Stance so I can DPS.


To make you feel better, I also spent my first Titan clear dead at the bottom. I didn't get the while "Stand near the edge but not in the red" part right away and ended up being on the part of the floor that fell away. It happens, you shouldn't get upset.

wait a sec.. if you're playing a WHM then neither Protect nor Stoneskin are cross-class skills. So why does your hotbar reset when you add Stoneskin onto your hotbar.

Also, why are you adding skills to your hotbar mid-battle. If you don't have enough room for all of them just enable one of the others from the HUD menu and throw Stoneskin on there.

e: just saw that you were playing SCH and your profile just says WHM. Juggling cross-class skills is always kind of a crapshoot and we healers are lucky when people wait around long enough for us to cast SS, let alone sit through the full hotbar reset time.

You could always queue for Titan story again?

Really though, tanks running off early is a pretty common occurrence, so I would recommend trying to not let it get to you. ಠ_ಠ

I don't adhere to the "you don't really need that at your level" mentality. I wager most people take their sch to 50, then hate life as they have to go back and lv cnj another 19 levels because now, ss means something.

I'm not the problem. I need 30 seconds. That's it! In this game though, it's like asking someone to cut off one of their fingers. Which is why I hoped to get a little more support from the fc.

I know I can repeat the trial. I was so upset I didn't even complete the quest, and no desire to. I need to let my emotions simmer down for a bit.

Hate to break it to you, champ, but you were. This is a Massive Multiplayer RPG. That means you are playing with other people and, as the saying goes, 'No plan survives contact with the enemy'.

If THIS is causing you a panic attack, you'll never make it to end game. A PUG dungeon will give you an ulcer. Also, if I helped you run through a Story Mode Trial and you rage quit on me at the end, I'd never run with you again. Justify it however you'd like, you threw a temper tantrum.

This is exactly why you don't do this. Nobody is gonna wait for that.
