You can't make your pet focus heal. However, you can and should place her by the tank in most instances as they really shouldn't be moving out of her range at that point unless mechanics force them to do so. This won't make her focus heal the tank, but it allows you to keep a better eye on the DPS members of your group.

I know all too well how inconvenient the place command 'seems' at first as you spent 26 levels as ACN not really worrying about it with attacking pets. Especially on PS4, but now I can't stress how important it is to make your fairies' healing more efficient. It get's a lot easier the more you do it, and you'll separate yourself from so many SCH that just let their fairy follow them around.

in my opinion place is best utilized during fights that require you, and everyone else to move a lot. but in most fight having her on heel shouldnt be an issue. i kow fights like A4/S were better when the fairy was.placed since the healers needed to stay away from eachother.

You can make your pet focus heal.
My adlo macro, for example, is:
    Code:
    /macroicon "Adloquium"
    /pac "Embrace" <f>
    /pac "Embrace" <mo>
    /autofacetarget off
    /ac "Adloquium" <mo>
    /autofacetarget on
This will force the fairy to use embrace when I use adlo, on a focus target if I have one, or on my mouseover target (along with my adlo) if I don't.
This does generate errors in chat if you don't have a focus target, but I just make sure that filter is not on my chat tab.

I also toggle autoface off for the adlo cast, so it will still be on for abilities that require a hostile target.
I use a similar macro for physick.

The problem with Place is the faerie's limited range. Auto-healing only triggers within 21y (not a big deal if you are manually spamming, though). The bigger deal is whispering dawn and your other cooldowns only have a 15y radius. I can't really think of fights that require a ton of movement over a small enough area that people will stay in range. Also consider that Embrace has a 2s cast and 3s cooldown, so she can move a little without losing healing output. In the end, I usually just keep her on heal and worry about positioning myself.

I agree that A4 warrants using Place to park the faerie in the middle due to the unique healer positioning requirements of that fight (can't just stand in the middle as normal).
