Unfortunate then, that it takes 20 days to max out ARR beast tribes from 0, Gordias is basically dead unless you form your own full party.
And treasure maps have crap drop rates.

You say that as if you could do all of those in 1 day. I'm 28/80 on the Unidentified items after about 2 weeks. I'm sure by the time I am 80/80 I will have the gil to buy all 16 HQ crafts from the MB. I simply do not have time to do anything BUT:
All roulettes that provide Eso/Poetics
beast tribe dailies
Before it gets so late I need to go to bed or I run the risk of going to work on just 5 hours of sleep. The beast tribe dailies don't payoff for me either since I just came back to the game and never touched the ARR ones, so I can't even buy anything good from them still though I nearly have the HW ones maxed out now.
Used to be that spending the roughly 40 days of getting all 4 beast ARR beast tribes to Rank 3, with no progress toward currency to buy the unidentified items, was actually faster than doing the Vanu in the long run (assuming that was your primary source and it took longer than 50 days to get all the tokens). Not sure what the ratio to it is now with the Vath added in.

Hands down, Gordias and the Beast Tribe quests are the slowest way to grind out these items, but they are also the "easiest" with a low expectation of gear and skill level. Doing the Hunt is probably the fastest if you can find a group for it since you can net around 5-6 items in 2 hours. lv50 roulette and Main Story roulette are great for poetics, especially if you end up getting a first timer. You can always go back to farming the Praetorium too, which I believe will net you a base of 120 poetics for every run, and that's technically the fastest way to get progress on this if there isn't a hunt group. You say that as if you could do all of those in 1 day. I'm sorry to say, I don't want to see this nerfed yet. While it is long winded and tedious, it goes towards a 210 weapon. While that isn't a big deal, the next step is incredibly easy, and you get a 230 weapon, which for some jobs, is a pretty damn nice weapon, and better than the lore 230 counterpart. Keep going on it, and you will finish it, if you care about it enough.Personally, I'm waiting until they nerf the "Coming into its own" quest to a level that makes any sort of sense compared with the new quest, before continuing past i200. Sorry, farming over 54 THOUSAND esoterics and poetics is just insane.
Comparatively, the new step is only 9k tomes to complete, flat out, no crafting or other collecting nonsense. You can even do it faster by completing the old Crystal Tower climb quest.
I can deal with the collecting and the crafting SE, but make the progression sensible.
Most annoying part would be FATEs. They didn't learn from Atma FATEs eh?

Never said it was prohibitively difficult...like nothing I said came close to saying that. What I said was that, based on current circumstances, that how difficult you find the crafting step and how difficult (or dependent on luck) I find the crafting step are going to be different.
Even if we both believed the crafting step to be the easier of the two, you would still have an easier time with than I would and thus see it as even easier than I would.
There's no actual right our wrong answer to which is easier anyway, and my original point was that our own perceptions of the difficulty of a given step is going to be influenced by things like personal in game wealth, access to crafting, etc...and that those who have all crafters and gathering to 60 are on one end of the spectrum...hence why it is skewed compared to the average.

lol still on step 3 since its release datedon't care anymore when I get it, so I'm just taking it as leisurely still only have 61/80 xD
I started working on "Coming unto its own" a month ago. I have like 10 shells and 5 of everything else. I was soooo hoping they would adjust the amount of items needed for this damn quest but they didn't. I ended up buying the crafted mats the other day. Cost me like 6mil on Exodus all together but I wasn't spending my money on anything else. 3mil of that was probably me selling all the crit4 materia from my beastmen dailies.

They won't. That's never the approach they take. When they make it easier, they'll make the items cheaper, not reduce the number needed. This gives an advantage to people newly starting the quest and working to finish the quest, but doesn't auto-finish it for people who are in the middle of working on it. So, they might halve the Eso/AS cost or they might give double tokens from beast tribe quests, but they won't reduce the number of tokens needed for the quest.
