The point that the OP was making, which has been reiterated many times over the course of the thread, is that the reward does not correspond to the effort and/or time involved in obtaining it, given the alternatives.

Why do people keep throwing in this "700 runs of alex", except only to try and emphasise their point. Alex, imo was by far the slowest way of getting the items.

Kind've like saying "omg you have to do 18,000 archeoskin maps!"
No-one in their right mind grinded out the items in that way.

I got 4 relics from just doing roulettes and beast tribes. I did the vath and vanu to max rank, now just do the 12 arr ones each day, takes about half hour. 12 IV materia + 120exp for one of my levelling classes, can't complain

Alex was by far the fastest way, calculated via simple math. It slows down impeccably if you wipe a lot - I guess, so there is a skill factor involved. That skill level was quite low though.

Personally, I found running Alex agonizingly boring - so I just farmed hunts. Unfortunately, this was probably the slowest method, but imo the most interesting.

I did very little Alex and I have 3 Anima relics. I'd most likely have a 4th if I didn't decide to use the Esoterics for upgrading my alternate roles to Eso gear. Now eso's are set aside for Aether Oils. I should have my 3rd oil later today after roulettes.

ilevel 230 relic starting from 0 - still around 1.5 month (2 weeks if you already have the ilevel 210 relic instead of waiting for a nerf)

Its easy because the Lore weapon is easy. Unless you are doing Savage all you have to do is wait 7 weeks and have atleast 1000 Lore which unless you are absolutely lazy OR only hit 60 last week you have 1000 Lore right now. Relic if you haven't gotten it up to 210 yet still requires the previous grind and unless one is near the end will probably take them longer then next reset.


If you look at the ARR Relic a similar thing happened with Zenith. All you needed to do was buy three items (though I believe it required the capped currency instead of uncapped at the time) and boom instant i90 weapon. Not only was this MUCH easier then the first part (mostly because of no Titan HM), it ended up contributing to the raid weapons getting a +5 ilvl since i90 was the highest you could get to at the time.

Look at the end of the ARR relic too. The second to last step was the hardest grind out of all of em because of the amount of items required, yet the next and final step was considered a very easy grind.

M4 Normal isn't all the difficult. Now if we had to do all the Midas floors per week to get it I might agree because M3 Normal is much worse in the DF. Really though it could just be I have had better experiences then you but I haven't seen an M4 wipe since the second week, and most of them go pretty soomthly.

Also to point out, you need to beat M4 once per week, and have atleast 1000 Lore for the tokens by the 7th week. For Oils you can mix and match grinding out 1800 Eso per drop and doing the CT weekly per week (and that Bone Dragon can, indeed, still wipe you.) If you already have a 210 relic then yes teh relic step is easier. If you DON'T yet (like myself) then you'll probably still have the Lore Weapon first.

Plus by the time they do nerf the unidentifiables for 210 we'll probably be well into 3.4, so Lore will be even easier to get.

- midas weapon is ilevel 245
- next relic quest, that upgrade the relic to 240, will be mostly a 1.5 months grind again. The 210 step will not be nerfed before the 240 step is ingame.
