Ideal Server for UK Players

Hi All,

It looks like I could be changing servers again due to the lack of English and UK players on Shiva.

I know this is a question that would have been asked in the past, but it could change all the time. Could any recommend a heavy populated UK server?

Odin is very popular and /sh is usually in English aside from the fc recruitment.

I don't know much about other servers except hearsay that Shiva is German and Moogle is French dominated. Ragnarok is the legacy server and among the most popular so that's also a good candidate for finding people you like. I haven't bumped into any language barriers during my short time leveling there. I'm curious though, is it the English language or a UK-only community you are looking for? If it's the latter you might be better off looking for a suitable UK fc on the realm forums because nationalities are happily mixed in all EU realms.

I'd agree with Odin, mostly English players here and its the best EU server for end game

Hi All,

I mainly play between the hours of 16:00 - 22:00 during the week, and weekends depends on RL stuff. I don't have any issues mixing with people outside of the UK, It is just the language barrier that causes a problem. After 3 months on Shiva, I have still not found an English based LS. Not really looking for an FC, but just rather end game LS's. This is what I am use to from my time on US based servers.

Why looking for an FC first is a good idea, I wouldn't pay the transfer fee based on a FC.

Looking at older posts, Odin has been mentioned the most about English speaking and UK based server. But all these post are over a year old.

Back when I moved from Balmung to a EU server, both Odin and Phoenix were mostly locked for new character creation, so those 2 seemed to have the most players at least. I ended up going with Phoenix after I created an alt there (Odin was pretty much always closed for new characters at the time, Phoenix was open occasionally) and met a bunch of nice people there.

Ragnarok has a great mix of nationalities and mostly English is spoken, I found more issues in the DF, you barely here any shouts that are not in English or if they are not a English version usually follows

I'm on hyperion. Its mainly an American server but I usually find enough people around to play with During weekdays it is a little bit quieter but Ok.

Phoenix is tricky to get into these days, due to (over)population, but it's got a fairly nice spread of languages. The majority seem to be English, but you've also got French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and a spattering of other non-supported languages making FC recruitment shouts from time to time. Judging by what I've seen when I play, it seems to be about 80% English in /shout channels, 15% French/German and 5% other languages.
Though... I did run into this dude once who tried to convince me and my flatmate that "Phoenix is french server, go away" after harassing us in French for a while despite us saying we don't speak it. (I'm guessing he was just trying to intimidate us away from killing "his" atma book mobs, back when they were 10 each instead of 3, despite us trying to be polite about it and letting him tag stuff before laying into them.) But that guy seemed to be a bit delusional xD
