Once again, you are disregarding context. People received exclusive stuff in 1.0 only because the game was dreadful and they essentially wasted money. There are always some understandable exceptions. Stuff like say, Lightning's gear, is not one of them. That isn't cherry picking because the circumstances differ.

I think, for me anyways, that it's more a matter of all players being on equal footing than any one player being a special snowflake over another. One group of players being given exclusive items while other groups either are never given exclusivity or have exclusivity taken away from them on a regular basis would imply favoritism. I would be fine with either all exclusives (including physical merchandise, region locked, and 1.0 exclusives, being released or with no exclusives ever being re-released, but I'm not big on the idea of any one item being devalued for any one group regardless if I have the item myself. (And there are many I don't have.)

This wouldn't be favouritism though, as that implies bias. SE releasing content that hasn't been available for years is merely extending it to players who either weren't subbed or haven't even played. I don't agree with exclusivity because I don't see any need of it, especially when the items are generally just novelty gear. There are exceptions, of course, like I outlined above.

I am disregarding nothing. You are trying to double-dip with it. You say it's ok for there to be exclusives, but it's not ok for there to be exclusives. Which do you want? This thread isn't about Lightning's Gear, and I've not brought it up once. This is about the Moogle Attire, which was rewarded to those of us that attended live, OR bought the live stream ticket for it, of which you had close to 8 months to purchase a ticket and get a code at any point. The state of 1.0 does not matter now, in 3.0, I'm sorry, but it's true. The game is vastly different now, and the 1.0 players get plenty of "apology perks" with a 3 dollar cheaper/month sub fee. How is it ok to take away a 2.0 exclusive, while still defending 1.0 exclusive character items?

You are creating a false dichotomy, where either everything must be available or some items never will be. That does inherently disregard context because it does not take into account unique circumstances. I'll concede, legacy players do have other perks, but at the same time I'm indifferent to their exclusives for the reasons stated. I'm not going to necessarily defend it, but I won't oppose it either. I suppose to some extent, the moogle attire could fall into a similar category. I mentioned Lightning's gear only as an example of something i don't feel needed to be exclusive content, yet this very same debate arose in every thread where people asked for it.

Once again, context is important. Everything is not simply black and white. To use the example you provided itself, if said company were to lose money buying the whole airline compared to its profitable assets. They would be foolish in doing so. A better example would be lifting a partial quote from someone in order to mischaracterize their argument.

And I don't. We just differ in our respective definitions. I feel there can be a grey area between the black (everything must be available) and white (some items should never be available).

I'm creating nothing, I'm just exposing the fallacy in what you're asking for, no, there is no "special circumstance" to digital, ingame items. If it's acceptable for one portion of the player base to be "special snowflakes" with their "special items", then it's acceptable for another portion to be, as well. Most of the time, I agree, there is a grey area to things, but no, this is a black and white argument. Right vs Wrong. Either it's ok to have exclusivity, or it is not. No special circumstances, no "buts" to dodge around it. Yes, or No.

I really hope it does get added to the mog store... and hopefully soon. Its the only option to play as a moogle, since they will never be a playable race.

When will players stop asking for things in Cash Shop...? This was a limited item as a "reward" for the fanfest. Why do you think you deserve it? If you can't buy OR go to something limited in time, then deal with it.
Those items are rare and "valuable" BECAUSE they're limited in time and/or as reward/souvenir from fanfests or livestreams or else.

You want it? Then get it the right way, or don't.

Sadly things arent allowed to be rare/exclusive/limited time anymore. People whine too much and demand they have the right to the items, even if they werent playing at the time or didnt care to get the items even if they were playing.

The way they did this in FFXI was to add another moogle costume with a different colored pom.




Also, it seems the same thing is being done with the moogle cap in FFXIV. There's apparently a "yellow-pommed" version on XIVDB.




So, it seems likely that if they did this they would just add a different suit with a different color pom. So the original item keeps it's rarity or whatever, but new people who want to dress like a moogle still get the chance.
