A way to obtain unobtainable minion?

I would imagine at some point, given the current sidequests, that there will be a second Cait-Sith minion added to the game. Possibly like the 2.1 Gobbue mount, they'll make an aesthetic difference to distinguish between them.

On one hand, they don't want to devalue pre-ordering, but on the other hand it is lame to have such a relevant character tied to something a majority of players wouldn't have been around for. Depending on how things unfold in the story, a betting man might assume it would show up in 3.5.

I have the Legacy choco, legacy gobbue, Cait Sith, OST pets blah blah...

They're exclusive pets and stuff, but I can simpatize with new players that wants to be pet/mount hunters too and loves to collect.
Having exclusive stuff is cool, but at the same time I feel bad because there's people that really wants them, too.

I wouldn't really mind if SE puts these pet/mounts on the Mogstation. As I said, having something exclusive is cool, but I simpatize with other players that really loves this game as I do, so they deserve a chance too!

Maybe I missed something when 2.0 was being released that someone can point out to me. I played 1.0, so I was able to play in all the Beta phases for ARR, and received ARR for free. Because of all that, why would I pre-order anything? Bottom line, I don't have Cait Sith. Not because I didn't know about the game, or didn't want to play it, but quite the opposite. What I didn't know was that the minion was a pre-order bonus, let alone the fact that no Legacy player in his right mind would pre-order a copy of what he already owns (inb4, thousands of people pre-ordered a second copy just for the minion)... I'm not saying I'll pay anything for it from the Cash Shop, but it's just odd that those who have fully supported the game from the beginning still miss out on the occasional little reward here and there.

I have all the "unobtainable" pets/mounts, and I also agree that people who missed out should be able to buy them. That is what the cash shop should be for, not things like the Bennu or Odin where there was no way to obtain them previously in game. I mean we're paying a sub already, that stuff should be free.

But for things that the players were given a chance at getting but people missed out, like old pre-orders or event items, yea sure throw those in the shop. A lot of people play MMOs to collect things, and it feels horrible missing a piece of the collection.

Oh, so I should be using my Cait Sith minion more to taunt soulless collectors? Got it!

I was okay with Lightning's items being added to Mog Station and even pushed for the return of the actual event, but if you're going to ask that everything be given a monetary place in the store, I refuse the notion. The line needs to be drawn somewhere. If anything, add a mimic, like the Behemoth Heir is to the Behemoth Pup. We need /some/ unobtainables.

Though, like every collection, you should be able to find the piece you miss, even if you spend year, even if it cost you a limb, there's usually always a way to get this missing piece at any cost. Here.... there isn't. You can't even buy it from pople who own it to keep the same amount in circulation, keeping its rarity but allowing people who really want it to get it from people who don't care about it because they just pre-ordered it for the early access or just because they had money at this time, or because they just wanted the OST, etc.

There now everyone is hap... no wait a lot of people still missed out on them, like the awesome Yugiri minion people now use to mourn one of her voice actresses, or the amazing Ysayle minion heretics use to currupt small children. Oh well I'm sure no one will mind not getting to summon tiny adorable replicas of some of the games best characters just because they weren't there at the time right?

Its so easy for people to deny newcomers amazing things or to deny people who weren't a high enough level or who couldn't do the quest due to rl problems amazing things when the people who don't want others to have access already did that event and thus have the cutscenes other people missed, emotes other people missed, minions other people missed, ect ect

Its always nice to see how people want others to miss out on things just because "i didn't like that event, people kept holding me at knife point and made me do it!!! DX it shouldn't be repeated!"

Or just because

"They shouldn't be allowed to get the thing that I already have access to! I'm supposed to be a special snowflake!!! DX!!!"

You can use "its supposed to be a limited time event, with limited time items." to try and justify it away but really it's just pettiness. Everyone who comes to the game should have occasional access to things that everyone else was able to do, there is more than enough time in the year for events to repeat while new ones also happen. And no one is actually able to cause you damage if you refuse to participate, stop being gullible :P unless you live with an abusive gamer who actually can hurt you, then maybe participate, or call the police, one of those things.

No one is really discussing event items from in-game events. If you read through the thread people are mostly fine with those being sold later on via the Mog Station and it it's already the case anyway so there's no real discussion to be had there. The issue really being discussed here are the limited edition minions that came with purchase of the first production runs for the soundtracks and plush toys. Those minions were very specifically advertised as being limited edition. You cannot advertise something as limited edition and then sell it again later on...

"Limited", you said it. And as any limited edition of anything, there will always be people who will want it later because they missed it or didn't have enough money. So you can buy it to those who had the chance to buy it at that time.
So now excuse me, I'm gonna find a Cait Sith owner to buy it at a high price. Oh, wait.

I'm such a big minion hunter I have over 160 minion, never missing promotionnal one and almost up to date at every patch. Yet, i feel unsastisfied, because I know, whatever how hard I try to complete my collection, that I will be missing one minion, all the time. Because I didn't start the game at the very beginning, I will never be able to obtain the Cait Sith from the ARR pre-order. Some people are prolly like me, and I bet it's also the case for HS pre-order, 1.0 and 2.0 OST.

Please, it would be great to allow minion hunters who reached a certain amount of minion to get those unobtainable minion in some way even if it's real money (mog kiosk with higher price than usual premium minion).

I feel you so much. While I'm slow going with my mount and minion hunting, I do like collecting them and know I'll never have the complete set of everything. I try to look at it as not counting the unobtainable because, well, they're unobtainable.
