    Real-money trade: The real problem

I have not even finished my third monthly subscription, and for the past two weeks I have been flooded with unavoidable RMT spam. It is not because I do not know how to blacklist, but because the blacklist is limited to 200 usernames.

Sure, I could delete the usernames that are listed as [Deleted[, but I already did that. And yes, I could delete those listed at the very beginning of my blacklist; however, after doing so, I began receiving spam advertising Christmas sales (this was happening in MARCH so obviously these were spam bots I blacklisted around December).

I am not asking for Square Enix to crack down on these bots but rather they expand the blacklist. I would say around 2,000 would be a semi-reasonable number, but considering I am only on my THIRD month while others have been playing for years, 2,000 is minuscule.

Everyone who agrees, I implore you to leave your own thoughts on expanding the blacklist because this has gotten out of control.

They should eliminate them. BL what? They will still making news bots everytime. BL is not a solution. You blacklist 1 and you will have 3 new more in a moment. A tell filter, that's a good solution.

Blacklist is almost 100% pointless for Gil Spam.

I have never received a tell from the same gil spammer twice.

What they need is a custom filter for whispers, so I can actually filter that new hottest web address they use. I am aware the GuildWorks allows for that but I shouldn't have to download a third party software to gain that feature and half the time it barely works.

You can turn off whispers in the main chat tab. If you still want to receive whispers just make a 4th chat tab where you enable whispers only. Quickly scroll through it every now and then. The RMT messages are huge blocks with icons so a real person's messages are easy to spot. It's better than using Busy status so noone can contact you and it's better than filling your blacklist with characters who aren't real people. Trust me, you want to save room for those as well. Just my 2 cents.

For real people, 200 is plenty of room.

I agree. I want to put in a list of words I never want to see in a message. The RMT always use the same message for ages because remaking them kind of defeats the point of bots. Just copy a line to the filter and it's gone.

Blacklist won't help. They need more custom chat filter options.

The real problem is the people on your server BUYING the things the RMT are selling.

Kill the profit and the sellers will fade away.

    But that's a little hard isn't it?

As for black listing practices, you might find it handy to clean out your list here and there to make room for the new ones if the other suggestions are not to your taste.
Hopefully we will get a chat filter, because the RMT are SEs enemy too.

And if you didn't need millions of gil to buy a simple glamour no one would be temped by RMT in the first place.

It's the pinnacle Western vs Eastern culture again, they don't have the same culture of wanting things without work and taking advantage of that laziness to profit over others.

The problem doesn't exist there which is why it's not highlighted enough for a solution I believe. The items on Tonberry from my personal scouting is way cheaper as groups help each other with crafts and prices are lowered due to the work ethic to achieve what is necessary instead of the desire of short cutting things to display without even the progress of achievement to attain it.

I do believe RMT traditionally inflate prices on servers where people buy the currency rather then spend time earning it.
Vicious cycles are a real jerk.

Fun fact that i never or rarely ever i guet a pm from a bot, like once every 2 weeks or so
