i cant stand duck duck goose tanks

like fr man its all fun and games until i miss a trick attack because you can't stop spastically trying to run circles around everything in an attempt to make something so dizzy it starts throwing up and dies from choking on it's vomit

its not even fun to play a dps class if you do stuff like this to people who are trying to do their job in the group

its like ordering a pizza, not putting your apartment number on the address line and having to call to fix it and send them back out, then you leave to go get drinks or something before they get there and they call and ask where you are and actually wait for you to get back, then you try to pay the driver with a $100 bill and asking for change without asking the shop if they could bring enough change for it

the group loses every time because you just have this strange obsession with randomly moving, for no apparent reason

and no im not talking about you moving out of aoes, im just talking straight up moving for no reason. because you thought the ground was a little too uneven to stand on, because you didn't like how close the malboro was to your butt, because you didn't like the view of the endless abyss beneath you.

    drives me crazy

Tank myself here, and i always keep the mobs still unless i need to dodge, and even then i try to dodge it so they don't move from left to right. And i've just leveled MNK From 15->60 the last week. And oh my freaking god. I have had so many awefull tanks.
Its just no fun, i lose atleast 30 potency on every attack i don't position right pretty much. Never ever have i hated tanks that do that as much as i do now, And don't even think of giving them some friendly tank advice. Oh no! you'll be the big bad wolf if you do

I loathe this as well. Even when I heal I hate this, since they're not helping DPS or mitigate damage or anything. It just makes my job harder. I'm sure it ticks off the other DPSers in your group as well, especially melee DPSers. Best to have the /pcmd kick macro handy when this occurs. I'd rather wait forever for a good tank than not wait at all for a bad one.

I had a situation in DF the other tank where the tank wouldn't stop spinning and I complained (as I main MNK) that I was barely able to put any real damage. The response I got was, and I quote: " do damage whatever you want, I don't care about your positionals"
So yeah why do these tanks exist??

When I tank, I keep myself planted as much as possible, but sometimes I have to move to avoid some big attack. I have enough sense to apologize to the poor MNKs when I have to move a lot.

@Lucke, There is a slight difference between you having to move, Or you spinning around non-stop like some tanks seem to do =P

When ever a tank has to move at it just so happens to screw up an attack i honestly couldn't care less. But yeah, the people that just spin right round 24:7. Make my skin crawl

The best thing is when they move too much and they're JUST out of range on my heal and interrupts the cast.
Like you can move to dodge thats great please do, but when you move constantly its just ugh

I usually stay still, but sometimes I ended up playing musical chairs with the DPS because I'm trying to be more accommodating than I have to be ^^'

I'll see a stagnant AoE on the ground and move the boss so the DPS can get their positional attacks. Then if I see they move in an odd spot, I'll try to move for them instead (and they end up moving too). Continue this for a few seconds and then I just go "F it! Stand in the damn poisoned ground!"

But otherwise, the only time I run in circles is when I'm out of all my defensive CD's (meaning DPS aren't on point) and my hp is low. Sadly... this has saved me once or twice...

Don't worry. I'll spam cure the crap out of you with my Paladin.

This is why I can't play tank in this game unless asked to. I'm compelled to always be moving. It's like a mental crutch for dodging stuff. Maybe I played too much Tribes when I was younger. "Gotta go fast", as they say. I like to jump a lot too. Ninja is a natural fit for me. Any terrible tank who can't stand still might actually be a talented ninja without even realizing it.
