Pink and green items

The OP who asked is around lv 29. By the time he's above 50, he would already notice the difference about "ilvl" and the rarity of gears won't matter anymore. Pre 40, pinks have the same primary stats with the same ilvl greens. I only answered his question that relevant to his level. And who are we kidding? 12 determination won't even add 2% of damage, secondary stats aren't really that important pre 50.
What important is the ilvl and the quality of the gears. When you reach 60, then you start looking for bis.

Pretty sure pink items have the same stats as the white version of that item but HQ. Keep them if you want to level another class that will use them, if you have no intention of using it again trade it in to your GC for seals, convert or sell it at a vendor. Green items usually have a unique skin so keep it if you want to glamour it later, also what I said before stands, if you want to use it again keep it, if not ditch it.

In terms of stats, you can compare pieces of gear against each other, lets say you're in a green piece and you get a pink or white piece a couple of levels up, compare them. If the difference is wide swap them or if for example the green piece has 5 additional stats on it but the white piece has three and the stats are only higher by like one or two points just stick with the green piece.

I thought the random stats for pink equips are only from Diadem? The previous pink equips from dungeon drop seems to have the same stats though?

also, when farming materia, pink gear is very good, since it's considered high-quality. HQ gear gear bonds faster than NQ. That migth be another reason to choose it over green gear.

NQ - > HQ -> Pink = Green -> Blue. When you are leveling as long as you aren't wearing NQ you're doing more than enough, so don't care about it so much. Pink is generally better than HQ, but not always better than Green. When you reach max level look up your stat weights because there is only ever three or four pieces of gear to even pick through and the better one becomes pretty obvious.

Aetherial gear from anywhere can have random stats on it.
But at lower levels there's only so many numbers to distribute you may not notice anything important.
