I usually go dps and not tank, because even if other dps is a complete garbage, the run will end at least at average time. If I go as a tank, I may meet 2 bad dps, and it will be 1 hour run, no, thanks. Sometimes I can meet a tank, who can't keep aggro (with quelling and so on), but it is very rare. Bad dps, on the other side, is quite common.

I'm a WHM main and I love all tanks because I don't personally enjoy playing one.
I don't care how quickly a tank pulls - if it's fast it keeps me on my toes and if it's slow I will just dps a little. I don't think anyone should tell the tank how to play and they should just proceed as they feel comfortable.
When I see a great tank and I get 3 commendations I feel a little guilty as the tank really impacts how well the run goes more often than not.
Anyway totally willing to Tank Worship so I don't need to play mine
Why I don't enjoy tanks:
1. I've played healer mains since 1999 and that's just what I enjoy. I don't particularly enjoy DPSing either though I will sometimes play a summoner to help Rez while DPSing and I get to heal a pet I guess.
2. I hate being in the lead - it's stressful if you don't know zones like the back of your hand.
That's it really. People who feel powerless as a tank should feel even more powerless as a DPS as you can work around a bad dps easier than a bad tank.

When I play my tank these days I feel like a Shark with all my teeth pulled out. Not being able to deal much damage is extremely frustrating. In other games i've played Tanks usually deal similar damage to tier 2 DPS but lack temp abilities and abilities that weaken the monster.
However in this game DPS just does DPS.
Bards are also just DPS with tiny group buffs.

Coming from a mostly DF tank myself, I enjoy tanking. Especially now that DRK is a tank. Moving from PLD to DRK back then in the DPS and hate department was almost night and day. I enjoy my quick queue's, and if I can, I will come back as a tank to make up for any scrub ones that left the party, for whatever reason (if the darn DF would let me back in the same party at least).
I used to get stressed out as a tank, and sometimes, like when a new raid comes out, I still do cause I worry about the mistakes I may make, but learning from them is half the battle. I like seeing how much my group can handle before I decide to pull either more or less, and will usually communicate with my healers before making any drastic changes thru the run. If you don't have that synergy with your healer, things will be just as worse as having 2 bad dps.
You WILL make mistakes, learn from them. Or, you may come out of it a hero, then figure out how to do even better next time.

Nah. Bad tanks aren't particularly difficult to work around. Bad DPS are the worst cause they cause fights to last far too long and tax everyone's resources for no reason.
A good DPS can easily tank for a bad tank, a great tank can't DPS as hard as a good DPS, which is why I've been using my DPS far more.
I love tanking but bad groups make me not want to tank.
I really feel bad for new GLD/PLDs right now though.
Pre-Shield Oath is even more of a nightmare now. I'm ilvl 208 and have been struggling with aggro against DPS in gear worse than the dungeon drops in Toto Rak as an example during my low level roulettes. Before STR tanking got nerfed, I had no issues with it.

Tanking is a chore and people don't pay per month to do chores.
Proof of this : SE gave tank roulettes special mounts after doing a certain number, also glamour and other things you can only get by tanking, they know tanking isn't fun so if they try and force it maybe it will be fun? nope.

And the Live Letter noted more tank mounts coming.Tanking is a chore and people don't pay per month to do chores.
